âDeath is the enemy...â
All these people complaining that GoT isnât what it used to be...thatâs called story progression. While the dialogue has lost a bit of its flourish without the guidance of Martinâs novels, itâs still one of the best things on television by far. The brilliance of the story shift is that Martin created a world with words (which the show has now depicted visually) that feels so real, the fantasy element almost feels out of place. The characters feel like real people. The locations and geography have become like another continent to us. the political drama is intriguing, intense, and clever. But ultimately, as Jon and Beric have now both expressed, itâs not about who sits on a metal throne. in this incredible, visceral, gritty world, thereâs something bigger at stake. After six seasons of power struggles and back-stabbings, Jon emerged as the one character who saw the world for what it was. While the people of Westeros (including the bloody maesters) forgot and forsook the greater threats and more mystical elements of their world, becoming more and more entangled in political conflict, the Night King flourished. He built an army on the ignorance and dismissal of men. Now the people of Westeros are being thrown back into the reality of their world and itâs brilliant. To see Daenerys, a character who had become so obsessed with the throne one could not ignore her growing resemblance to the Mad King or even Cersei, temporarily toss aside her ambitions to face a greater threat was a pleasantly surprising twist. It gave me a lot of hope for her character just as I had begun to believe she could never rule the Iron Throne. And in the end, I think she learned something incredibly important about leadership. The strength to prioritize something over self-propulsion is far more inspiring than a forceful âbend the knee.â Until Dany realized the the throne was not all that mattered, she could never gain the support or service of Jon. The stronger emphasis of the fantasy elements is causing so many characters to step up, grow, and ultimately decide what they are living for. To me, thatâs thrilling. The faster pace is simply pulling us into the climax of an already gripping show and I cantât wait. So please, stop complaining about the dialogue. We have been spoiled by the elegance of Martin to the point of not appreciating a show that is still very well written (Sand Snakes excluded.) Stop complaining that the show isnât what it used to be. It was always meant to shift and change! Just appreciate the show for what it is, and stop complaining about what you think it should be.

Kings on Ice
Part 7 â The Prom
After our talk with the principle a lot happened. Right after we left the office, Nate and I got an apology from Chaseâs mother. That poor women had a lot to deal with and I was sorry for her. We accepted her apology and then she ran after her son who stormed out as soon as the door opened. My mom, Nate and I then just stood there. âSo, what will happen next? Do you think you can go home?â I asked Nate and he looked at me with a sad smile.
âDoubt that.â He said, but momma our hero quickly said âLike hell you are staying with your father. You are coming home with us and you can sleep in our guest room until we figured some things out.â Nate just nodded.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the same evening we got a call from Nates mother. She threw Mr Walton out of their home, but she didnât do it alone. His brothers also helped because to them he was still family no matter what or who he liked. âSee I told you, your family will stand behind you no matter what.â Nate decided to let things calm down first before he would return home. I think he just was scared his father would turn up again and hurt him. It would have been a possibility.
The next morning the whole school knew of our little secret and to our surprise it wasnât that big of a deal for them. Well except Nates friends. They tool their time wrapping their heads around that idea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few weeks later our lives were just as normal as they were before. Nate was living with his family again which was a bummer for me, but at least he was happy and we were still together. Tonight was the night of our icy prom. Some of our friends thought it would be funny to make us their prom kings and thatâs why we now were on the ballot. I mean seriously. We werenât in some kind of movie.
But of course everybody went with it. Nearly the whole school voted for us and just wanted to sink into the ice and vanish from the face of the earth. Nate though took it with humour. Sometimes. Sometimes.
And for pulling me down that road I made him wear the tiara. I wasnât going to wear that thing for the rest of the evening. Then we had to dance together. Which wasnât easy, but after all those weeks of practice I made good form. âYou know. If someone told me we were going to dance together, on some ice rink, wearing a crown and a tiara, I would have thought that person was crazy.â I said after he made me twirl. I know how this sounds, but I looked really cool.
âYou know if someone would have told me, I would have asked him, how it happened. Maybe I could have speed things up a little.â He said and had his cheeky smile on. âAnd everyone always says I am the romantic.â âWell you are, but I can also be one, only I wait for the right moment.â He said and then he kissed me.
Before I forget. At midnight we all nailed our performance. It was hilarious. So many fell and slithered down the ice and right at the end I was one of them, but I didnât care anymore. Why would I? Everything was going on so well. Well, one of my friends. Sarah, she had a crush now and wouldnât stop talking about him. He was in her class, well technically she was in his class, and she would tell me every day how incredible he is. Sometimes I wish I would have chosen my friends more wisely, but then again, I would be bored out of my mind without them. Letâs hope everything stays the same for as long as we are in school and beyond.

Wishing only wounds the heart
Part 5
Love at last?
âYou do realize I have noticed how you avoid me at any chance you get? What did I do to deserve that?â Sarah thought for a few seconds if she should finally tell him and in that instant she made her decision.
âIt is because I love you. I love you since I first saw you, but you clearly are not into me.â âWhat do you mean by that?â âYou and Heather. You two are always together and when you are you cuddle and joke around and everything.â Sarah poured her heart out to him and all he could do was smile. âWhy are you smiling?â she asked him and his answer surprised him âHeather and I are just best friends nothing more.â âAnd I should believe you because?â she questioned him further and Stephan sighed. âPromise you wonât tell?â âDependsâŠâ Stephan continued âWell she wanted to tell the school soon anyway. She is bi. And if you now think she is after you can relax. She told me she was into someone else and I told her once there was someone I liked and she immediately tried her best to get me together with her.â
In that very moment Sarah went from angry to immensely embarrassed. She quickly looked away from him and tried getting up to get away, only to be pulled down again by him. This time though she didnât hit the ice, but fell into his lap. âWait. Iâm not done talking. You should know something which i held back for a while too.â he waited for a few seconds and the continued. âI love you too.â Sarahâs eyes widened and she wasted no time looking him into his smiling eyes. âYes. You should know that someone was you and Heather tried to make you jealous, so you would get a move on because I didnât want to ask you out first. But I see her strategy failed miserably. I love you Sarah, but just as you I was too scared to ask you out.â Tom, Nate and Nemi were looking from afar just like all the other students who witnessed the drama.
âKiss already!â Tom shouted and in a few moments everyone was shouting âKissâ. Both of them smiled at the others and then they followed. Both inched closer until it finally happened.
âTold you there were getting together.â Tom whispered to Nemi and she threw back âYeah you were right so shut up and let us all enjoy this moment.â
