Final series: Oil on canvas
The work displayed is called Oil on canvas and brings together a photographic reproduction of small details of notable paintings. The photographer chose to enlarge them in order to point out the texture and the materiality typical of painting. Each piece of art depicted was produced by different artists who worked with the pictorial medium after the invention of photography. The aim was to demonstrate the variety of approaches that painters were somehow forced to make use of in order to create something different and innovative.
The title is supposed to confound the viewer: it does suggest that we are looking at paintings, but at the same time we are doing so through a rather flat, digital photographic representation of them.
The relationship between photography and painting is a subject well known by all contemporary artists and this project aim to be the the celebration of it.

FINAL SERIES
My final series is as follows. The final twenty photos I have chosen as they are the works I am most proudest of. They are in a selected order to suit time, and tell a story within the series themselves.
Enjoy, note, and repost as you please.
Kate Gregan is originally from a farm in Otorohonga but clearly enjoys the city life.
