What does being frugal look like in your life?
Frugality has been a major part of my Husband and I’s life as we worked to buy our first home over the past 2 years! Sometimes, (and honestly, more than sometimes) it was hard and uncomfortable, but it definitely got us to where we wanted to be!
Frugality for me as an individual is almost ingrained. I don’t like spending money on things that are not absolutely necessary, and that’s not exactly a good thing! My husband has definitely helped me to loosen up a little over the 5 years that we have been together, although I still grimace as money flows out of our hands -- both for necessities and fun.
Living life to the best of our ability is a priority for me. Being “too” frugal is a thing for me to be aware of, and I need to not place as much weight on it. I’m thankful my Husband supports me and my growth in everything :)
BUT: Frugality brings me security, comfort, happiness, and even contentment. Because of that and valuing those things, along with where they come from, I need to learn how to balance managing finance with reasonable expectations within a budget that we agree on. This is one of the big next adventures for us now that we BOUGHT A HOME!
Before we bought our home, all of our income was allotted to making that happen. Now we have room to make a budget and create space for more than just getting out of debt and saving money. The opportunities are endless! It’s a new chapter for sure, and I am SO EXCITED!
