With November being Diabetes Awareness Month and today - the 14th of November - being World Diabetes Day, I thought that it would be fitting to spread awareness for my own Chronic Autoimmune Disease: Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). My own diagnosis story is on my blog, found at: http://stephanieabbett.com/type-1-diabetes/ This disease is one that has yet to be cured in todayâs world, but was distinguished from other types of diabetes over 225 years ago back in 1794 and symptoms on T1D were recorded long long long ago. The treatment for Type 1 Diabetes - a hormone called Insulin, which controls blood glucose levels - was invented only 98 years ago in 1922. While some look at Insulin as a cure, if you ask anyone with T1D or anyone close to a T1D, you will find that it is most definitely not. Itâs simply a treatment. A treatment that can end life with one wrong calculation in either direction. It is most definitely a difficult and quite invisible disease to live with. I have felt invisible because much of my day is taken up with things that others canât see or feel. The average of 180 decisions that I have to make in a day, all revolving around T1D are exhausting on top of other normal life decisions - and to others, can be quite unrelatable. Itâs a difficult position to continually live in. It's upsetting to me that Diabetic technologies (such as Insulin pumps and CGMâs) are looked at as optional by insurance companies (at least in the USA) and not required to aid in the treatment (treatment being the delivery of Insulin) of T1D. The fact that the ONLY Treatment is inaccessible to some due to PRICE is extremely upsetting. The fact that there are any deaths due to Insulin rationing because it can be inaccessible is astounding and unforgivable. It seems to be thought that all you need in order to be healthy is a shot of insulin, and a few finger pokes a day to monitor Blood Glucose levels and youâre set. THIS IS FAR FROM TRUE. Itâs the impact of too much or too little Insulin and what it will do, itâs that stress, food, other hormones in the body, exercise and more all impact how your body will respond to insulin, and itâs that Blood Glucose is changing continually even with a limit on impacts (like not eating so that your Blood Glucose isnât impacted by it). What does being a T1D and Health really look like? What about mental health in and around T1D? There is SO much more than giving Insulin and taking 2 blood glucose readings a day. There is burnout, thereâs fatigue and exhaustion, thereâs the weight in the management of T1D, thereâs the support team behind each T1D. Itâs time to Celebrate and Empower, as well as Educate, Advocate, & Cure T1D. To learn more about Diabetes, visiting www.beyondtype1.org will give more information and is an amazing resource. #Type1Diabetes #ChronicIllness #InvisibleDisease #November #AwarenessMonth #Strive #FamilyLife #HomeLife #FinancesforFreedom #HealthandWellness #ALittleMoreMe #Happiness #Lifestyle #Inspiration #Encouragement #Faith #Honesty #Value #Hope #Strength #Laughter #Community
Wintertime is almost here! Itâs dark outside for longer than we have the light, the temperature has sunk below 65 degrees for the majority of the day and the leaves have almost all fallen to the ground. Winterizing our new outdoor spaces has been on the top of our list this past couple weeks, and although weâve done several sessions, we still have A LOT to do! We will get there⊠For sure! And you will too! There is a New Blog Post on Winterizing your Outdoor Spaces coming to you on Strive Monday at 11am! #Garden #Winterization #Plants #Fruit #Vegetables #Yard #WinterWildlife #WinterPests #Weeding #Compost #GardeningTools #LawnCare #NextSeasonPrep #Strive #FamilyLife #HomeLife #FinancesforFreedom #HealthandWellness #ALittleMoreMe #Happiness #Lifestyle #Inspiration #Encouragement #Faith #Honesty #Value #Hope #Strength #Laughter #Community

Hello All! How did you handle the Adjustment of moving into your first NEW HOME? Our situation was a little more dramatic, as we have been living with friends and family the past couple years, so there was even more adjustment for me! After the last couple weeks, I have come to the conclusion that I need to give myself a little more time and space to settle and adjust into our lives. This new chapter in our life of Home-Ownership is amazing and wonderful, but also a bigger adjustment that I had even thought to anticipate. In the outlook of my own health and wellness, I need to give more priority to building good and healthy habits, taking the time to really transition into this new chapter of our life, and to do that well! I have come to the decision to lower my expectations on myself for Strive through the next couple weeks. A new blog post will be going live for your perusal on the 16th of November, talking on our new homeowner responsibilities, and winterizing! Thanks for being here! :) Stephanie #Home #Moving #Time #MakingGoodHabits #OurOwnSpace #Adjustment #Garden #Winterization #Plants #Fruit #Vegetables #Yard #WinterWildlife #WinterPests #Weeding # Compost #GardeningTools #LawnCare #NextSeasonPrep #Strive #FamilyLife #HomeLife #FinancesforFreedom #HealthandWellness #ALittleMoreMe #Happiness #Lifestyle #Inspiration #Encouragement #Faith #Honesty #Value #Hope #Strength #Laughter #Communit
Hello! I hope that you are well and your week is off to a fabulous start!
My Husband and I made this delicious meal last week and a little wine tasting here and there!
Have you tried any new recipes lately?
Do you have any red wine recommendations? (I like my bubly Moscatos, but we would love to find a Red that we enjoy!)
Through our week off of work while we moved, we did everything together which is almost never possible and it was truly wonderful! We woke up together, prepared for the day together, made and ate three meals a day together, had several movie nights and through last week, we were just plain TOGETHER. All Week. I loved it.
As my Husband and I return to our normal of opposite schedules, I am cherishing and committing all the small and perfect moments to memory that were last weekâs time we had together while moving into our new HOME. We are SO blessed. Iâm so thankful for the life that we are building, Our Life. My Husband is truly Amazing. I am one blessed Wife :)
What is one thing that you are thankful for this week?

Hello all! Well, it has been a Crazy Week! My Husband and I have moved into our new home, and we couldnât be happier! There are still odds and ends that need to be put away and nicknacks that need to find a home, but everything will fall into place with time!Â
Moro is loving having a space that is all hers! The backyard is her favorite for sure :) Last night, we woke up and found her in the room that will be our guest bedroom, sprawled out on the mattress that is there waiting for the rest of the items to be moved in. She was happy and so COMFY.Â
As we are settling, I am finding where I work best and am productive in the tasks that are on my to-do list. Being productive makes me happy and having space that is completely mine that isnât our bedroom is so peaceful. I am in love with our home :)Â
Where do you find productivity?Â
**New Post on FRUGALITY live Monday Morning!
We did it! Got the majority - if not all - of our things moved to our new home today! It has been a worlwind the past 4 days, but we made it! After two years of fighting for this, we moved into our own perfect home :) We couldnât be happier, any more thankful, and we are most blessed! #Strive #HomeLife #FamilyLife #HealthandWellness #FinacesforFreedom #ALittleMoreMe Stay tuned!! New post going LIVE next Monday on Frugality!
What does being frugal look like in your life?
Frugality has been a major part of my Husband and Iâs life as we worked to buy our first home over the past 2 years! Sometimes, (and honestly, more than sometimes) it was hard and uncomfortable, but it definitely got us to where we wanted to be!Â
Frugality for me as an individual is almost ingrained. I donât like spending money on things that are not absolutely necessary, and thatâs not exactly a good thing! My husband has definitely helped me to loosen up a little over the 5 years that we have been together, although I still grimace as money flows out of our hands -- both for necessities and fun.
Living life to the best of our ability is a priority for me. Being âtooâ frugal is a thing for me to be aware of, and I need to not place as much weight on it. Iâm thankful my Husband supports me and my growth in everything :)
BUT: Frugality brings me security, comfort, happiness, and even contentment. Because of that and valuing those things, along with where they come from, I need to learn how to balance managing finance with reasonable expectations within a budget that we agree on. This is one of the big next adventures for us now that we BOUGHT A HOME!Â
Before we bought our home, all of our income was allotted to making that happen. Now we have room to make a budget and create space for more than just getting out of debt and saving money. The opportunities are endless! Itâs a new chapter for sure, and I am SO EXCITED!
