If you're thinking of getting quail this is a sign DO NOT DO IT they're so stinky and skittish and only produce eggs during the warm seasons and it'll be so much more productive to get chickens or ducks if you really want poultry and have the space. I only got mine because I'm determined to raise some babies and I wanted to participate in my school's ffa club but I'm telling you right now IF YOU HAVE THE SPACE GET SOMETHING OTHER THAN COTURNIX QUAIL

I adore my little quails Gizzard and Lizard so much but I'm telling you they smell awful and do NOT want to cuddle! Unless you get maybe hand-raised quail, they're going to be extremely hard to tame. Unless this is a bird you genuinely want and know what you're going into and will be happy with, I'd recommend keeping off of them. But not every little animal wants to cuddle, and this is definitely one of them. Don't let their size mislead you

The fact that restaurants leave tendon, bone, etc in their chicken is baffling to me because as someone who's processed quail, which is on a very tiny scale so more work to get all the gross pieces out, that stuff is EASY and if you can't get that out while cutting your meat, you should consider another job.

Really sorry to any poultry or aviary keepers living where there's currently avian flu outbreaks, please do your best to keep your birds safe. Even if they're food birds, flu is a concern to all of us if the bird strains mutate. If you're on the west, from what I know, consider taking down wild bird feeders or at least cleaning them, and try to avoid wild birds getting into your flock birds' food if you keep any birds like mentioned above

I turned the quail eggs 4 days too long I fucking love homesteading I fucking love my stupid quail that I killed for food because he kept attacking my hens I fucking love homesteading

Today I bought three more quail to fix the male to female bird ratio in my coop, my birds now currently consist of:

King Gizzard

Lizard Wizard

Miss Brownie

The twins (they don't have names yet since they have the same coloration I cant differentiate them))
