is this okay to do??
This was missing at least three very important things.
inb4 'but we'd have over 1000 reps!!!!!' Removing the cap on the House would be a logistical nightmare unless we can agree on a simple, easy formula.
We can replace the 1929 Reapportionment Act, the act we used to stop this whole nightmare and which caps it at max 435, with the 2028 Wyoming Rule Act: set the population of the least populous state as the district size. The smallest states will always get at least 1 rep, and the biggest won't be arbitrarily underrepresented. We're looking at like, 571ish, not near 1200.
And honestly the last added point is such an obvious one, but we can't claim to have "abolished" slavery when we still literally and legally use it in any circumstances. We only barely federalized it. Way past time to fix.
Progressives need to pull a leaf from Nepalese books and throw together a 'Future Foundation' group chat to hammer out the actual p28, bc there's plenty more we can and need to do to catch all the way up and it won't be decided in disjointed organic virality:
- codify queer & disabled rights
- high-speed rail networks and robust public transportation
- universal education for ALL
- stronger labor protections
- refund and rebuild the EPA, FDA, WHO, NASA, national parks, etc
- hold corporations financially responsible for reusing and recycling their own product wastes and pollutions
- pin minimum wage to inflation (after raising to adjust for modern productivity)(in practice this all would also require a tiered adoption for non-megacorp small businesses to begin with, reasonably 3-5yrs)
- demilitarize the police and integrate into teams with EMTs and mediators/advocates, with decentralized/elected management
- establish representation for all nations and territories under US jurisdiction, or some appropriate wording thereof; Puerto Rico, D.C., our First Nations, and others deserve to have a national voice.
- etc etc
And while I'm here ~
The DNC is already gunning hard for Newsome. With no official corporate PR of our own to compete, as we have no official truly Left party in this duopoly, the Left will be left behind yet again if the DNC is allowed too much of a headstart while we hunt for a Perfect that doesn't exist.
The literal best chance we have in all aspects and considerations, is AOC. She's the best-known and furthest Left rep we have on the national stage, well-established in office, hardworking and working class, communicative, responsive, and takes no shit. She could easily get behind a crowdsourced P28, and regardless of what the media tries to say, centrists will vote for her. We just have to convince her to run, and then support her when she does.
To prove it can happen at all in the first place, we have to rally widely around the rising leftist candidates aiming for the federal midterms and local offices, starting with Mamdani.
We have to overpower the DNC, the exact same way the Tea-Party-turned-magats leveraged the GOP. We have to tear this shit down from the inside, from the bottom up. And unless and until we're ready to pick up our own pitchfork ourselves, we'd best be using the whole damn toolbox we can reach, which includes but is NOT limited to voting.
We need to expand our mutual aid networks, we need connections, we need mediators and 101-level educators, we need people, we need community.
Not even a true General Strike can become a reality for the majority of the working class without first embracing these things, else the systems will just keep forcing them back to work.
And if we want to ever be able to break those systems without throwing marginalized demographics into the burn-it-all-down meatgrinder, we have to learn from our mistakes AND from others' successes.
I mean or we can just keep bickering about inexperienced/niche randos and old men up until November 4 2028 and expect it to go differently the fourth straight time

Hiii!! I just rediscovered my love for BB after like 20 years and I'm so happy to see someone actively enjoying it on here <3 Your art is absolutely beautiful and I really need to share something with you because I cannot live alone with this knowledge. I've been reading a bit about brown bears (it fuels my BB love, I'm sure you understand :D) and I found something absolutely devastating: on the wikipedia page of brown bears it says that they practice infanticide (basically it's normal for an adult male to kill the cubs of a female in order to force her hormones into heat) and because of this "cubs may flee up a tree when they see a strange male bear approaching". I'm sure you already know where I'm going with this but I'm going to say it anyway: what if, when Kenai tells him about what happened to his mom, Koda ran up a tree because Kenai suddenly became a complete stranger to him and he actually felt an instinctive fear for his own life, even if just for a minute? My heart is shattering as I type this and I'm so sorry for putting this on you but I cannot deal with this on my own :,)
what did you just fucking say to me
