He stood staring at out the lake, dagger in hand. He’d searched for months to figure this out and finally he had. He felt bad about leaving like this. He felt bad about the letter he’d left on the nightstand. He probably should have told Belle in person. But she would have stopped him, told him to find another way. But there wasn’t one. He knew. Only this dangerous mission that probably wouldn’t succeed and either way ended in his death. A life for a life after all. There wasn’t any other way. So here he stood, saying his final goodbye to the world as he prepared to go to the underworld once again.

He hadn’t expected to hear footsteps though. So he turned his head slowly, locking eyes with Emma. He didn’t know if Belle had already found his letter and called everyone to try and find him for if she just happened to be here, but he did know that this wasn’t part of his plan. “Sheriff Swan. To what do I owe this pleasure?”
