Finding blessings in your day to day ……………………………. One of my biggest mantras this year has been gratitude. From the people I’ve met, places I’ve been, and things I’ve done, I take in every experience fully. Face it, each of these entities is an experience. We experience people, places, and things. With that comes opportunity - the opportunity to be a better version of the person you were yesterday or the person you were 5 minutes ago. For that I am always grateful. Having the freedom to revolutionize myself is one of the greatest gifts travel has ever taught me. Sometimes you go into a situation thinking you know everything and that you have it down-packed, but then you get hit by a curveball. It could be something you didn’t plan for or, even as simple as a reaction from a person you hadn’t expected. Those curveballs are your opportunity to grow. Yes, they can be challenging, but be grateful for that challenge. Just starting to look through the Costa Rica photos I took with my "real camera" (vs. the iPhone photos I shared before), and came across this from our first day. And the expression on that capuchin monkey pretty much matches the way I must have looked for the entire week. So I'm sharing this real quick before looking through the rest of the photos. This was on our first full day in Costa Rica - at Carara National Park, known for trails without many people and the largest variety of birds. It also serves as an example of my relentless nature (OCD?) of wanting to see something through - and how that works out. We had crossed paths only with one guy - then a little later he walked up on us from behind. Turns out we had walked a loop and missed out on making it to the actual end of the trail, which he said just featured a dried-out lagoon. Yeah, I couldn't just get in the car and drive to the other trails, I needed to see what was at the end of the trail. We were rewarded with our first sighting of a group of monkeys in the middle of the woods, with no other humans around.
