I needed to rant somewhere because look I wasn't expecting a ton from the jjk panel at anime expo today, but I was hoping for at least a new key visual.
Some thought there might be a trailer. Others thought there would be a release day which is insane. I knew there wouldn't be a release date. My guess has and always will be late 2026 at the earliest for season 3.
But...there's nothing other than...they're working on it and the voice actors are...well voice acting. Which is great but...it's been 1 ½ years since production was announced. This is also not me saying I want it rushed. I definitely want them to take their time, which is why a simple key visual would have been cool.
Instead, most of that panel was them pushing the fucking hidden inventory arc movie. If I never hear about that goddamn flashback arc it's too soon. That's all it is. A flashback. They are milking a fucking flashback arc that's five episodes long. I genuinely have never given a fuck about that arc. It's a blip compared to literally everything else going on in jjk?? Did we get some important info about Gojo's past? Yes. Beyond that though? I don't care and certainly not enough for me to believe it's movie worthy. If anything, the Shibuya Incident was more worthy and cinematic to become a continuous movie. Makes much more since in my head. But no. They are continuing to shove the flashback arc that was from two years ago at this point down our throats.
...And still nothing on season 3 besides 'we're working on it.'
I do want the animators to take their time and not to rush. Again, I didn't expect the season to come out until at least late 2026, but having near silence on season 3, I was a bit hopeful. But hey, there's still jump festa in December this year where they may announce something more about season 3 and I can only hope they do.
