another thing that bothers me about sam/rebecca (and there are Several Things) is how the narrative presented it as a bygone conclusion when there was actually very little buildup at all. like in 2x10, keeley was able to guess rebecca was sleeping with sam after rebecca said the man was tall - and rebecca’s reaction was hilarious, but seriously, how in the fuck did keeley guess correctly??? neither of the two (2) times that entire season she has seen rebecca talk about or to sam could be construed as flirty. in 2x02, rebecca said about sam “that young man deserves some recognition”, and in 2x03, their interaction was strictly professional, boss-employee; sam came to rebecca for help, she agreed to help him, he thanked her, and they didn’t have an onscreen interaction since.

i’m not saying that sam and rebecca couldn’t have interacted more in front of keeley off-screen, but as we (the audience) only saw keeley see rebecca and sam interact one (1) time in s2, there is literally no way that keeley should have been able to guess that quickly that rebecca and sam were hooking up in 2x10. literally, like if she had been there for sam and rebecca’s flirty-ish interaction in 2x07, i MIGHT have been able to buy her guessing sam so fast. maybe. but keeley was only able to guess sam so quickly because the plot demanded she did, and that does not sit right with me.
