The muse in this painting by Jon Jaylo (@jonenigmajaylo) is his son, @rave_jaylo. The title “Alluvion” refers to tides or currents helping to form new land. Jon offers deeper insight into the rich symbolism of this work of art which was exhibited at his first @beinartgallery solo exhibition in 2017: “I began talking to my son Rave at a very young age about how life challenges can make a person strong. Instead of complaining, we can find a way to overcome difficulties and learn from them. I depicted Rave slowly morphing into a crown-like splash of water with a Betta sailing through. That ‘fighting fish’ is symbolic of what we must do in this life to overcome obstacles. My painting also pays tribute to one of Bruce Lee's most powerful philosophies.” Be Water, My Friend. Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. ~Bruce Lee 🎨ARTWORK DETAILS🎨 Title: "Alluvion" Artist: Jon Jaylo (@jonenigmajaylo) Medium: Oil on canvas Size: 36 in x 48 in Muse: Rave Jaylo (@rave_jaylo) Year: 2017 Artist's Website: https://ift.tt/22lvcXU ••• posted on Instagram - https://instagr.am/p/COsGsUbLJIq/
