I am OBSESSED with how deranged and twisted their dynamic is because they meet at a more malleable time, but also the sweetness and growth peaks through the F4F that makes you never stop rooting for these fucked up guys. viva la freak for freak!

Hi! I'm a huge fan of 'Ten Minutes' and now I'm reading 'Meteted' by fingerfallingupwards. I really like both these stories and both have BDSM but it's kind of different? maybe it's because I don't know much about the topic but I feel a little confused. Can you explain it to me? (Only if you have time... I'm kinda curious about bdsm is all✨)
i’d like to start off by apologising that i’m a little tipsy at the time of writing this so any grammar mistakes/loose ends on my thought process/weirdly formal english language will be the result of that and by no means my intention. SORRY. my dog was a bastard today and i needed a beer
SO i have to admit that i haven’t completely read “Metered”, only the first five chapters or so, but i think i can pinpoint some of the differences for you despite that.
The first thing that I thought of is that Metered is a lot more focused on the Dom/Sub side of things, whereas Ten Minutes is not. That already brings a different focus to what’s happening in the sex, and where it will lead. In Ten Minutes, the BDSM happens solely to bring the characters as much pleasure as possible, which will end in a mega orgasm. Dom/sub fics usually have a particular focus on a character getting into subspace, and how that plays out, whereas it’s not a playing factor in Ten Minutes.
Also, it’s notable that the character dynamics are a little different in the fics, partly ‘cos in Ten Minutes, Paul and John are both switches (even tho Paul has acted as the dom so far. That’s only been possible, ‘cos John yields on purpose). In Metered, I think John took the role of a sub? So that would already make the actual action of having sex seem different, ‘cos the characters are acting based on different starting points.
Also, there is the fact that in Ten Minutes, John is a professional prostitute, which makes him very experienced. He has a ton of knowledge, and he’s particulalry focused on BDSM, so that already brings a difference in how the sex goes. In Metered, Paul and John are sorta discovering it together as they go along. So, also context of the fic might affect this stuff.
So uh. There are a lot of layers to BDSM, and these two fics deal with different ones. There are also plenty that these fics haven’t touched at all. I hope I’ve explained it properly enough, and if you’ve got more questions, feel free to send em for me :) also, again, sorry for the alcohol.,,

I wrote in a note on that fic that, for a long time, getting 10k+ kudos was a goal of mine. Past me would have laughed in my own face for orphaning a fic 30 kudos from achieving that. But, well.
I have been writing fic for fifteen years (which is CRAZY). It has always been an escape of mine-- when life gets hard, I have had an online place to go, and a story/fandom to fixate on. But I noticed it hasn't helped as much as distract from RL things lately and stress me out. (Even an author with "good" fics feels shitty when new stuff does not get the feedback they foolishly hope for). So on an impulse, I decided to orphan my stories, which is very humbling-- I have no record, no achievements. I'm just a reader again and it has been odd but nice.
Limited Vision only got finished because the reaction to chapter three (chiba) was so out of this world. It made me want to keep writing. Even this note means a lot because it's proof of how kind y'all readers have been to me. I really mean that YOU ALL made the story what it was, not me.
I might respond to comments and even post fic in the future-- but I think my standard will be orphaning. Writing and then letting it go. I can't handle the stats and the way they make me feel (me problem, yes ironic from "successful" fic writer). I hope people will still kudos my fics to help other readers find them! But I will (be trying) not to keep score anymore.
(I do suggest saving a copy of limited vision, crazy as that sounds, because I just realized I can't update the image files anymore 🙈 so when those go down/link breaks (as the internet does) the fic will always be incomplete. (My baddd!!!)
Tldr:
I don't regret writing any of my fics. I appreciate all the love and support over the last fifteen some years!! It's been incredible ❣️❣️❣️
