Elation. Finished. Complete. Two Saturdays ago I dared to dream a little bit. I ran for 60k that day at the Taniwha. I didn't tell many people about it beforehand. I leapt around for hours and hours, took a bazillion photos, updated my friends, and soared through pretty trails. In a small paddockful of starters, I was first. I lay on the grass afterwards drinking fluids by the litre. One Saturday ago I ran a trail marathon at Tarawera, a Tim Day special of 43 or 44k. In the week between those two thrilling start lines, and finish lines, I looked after myself. Today, Saturday, I ran around a little bit. And I'm OK. I'm moving well. I'm blissed out. I'm grateful. I'm learning. It's the work and the achievements we don't see - behind the photos - that matter. They add up. They are who we really are. The finish lines are shiny.
