Reading about the history of horse breeds that have always been bred at one specific stud farm or in one specific town is so different than reading about breeds that didn’t have a proper registry for the longest time
The Trakehners were bred in Trakehnen for centuries, and there’s so much material on how the breed developed, how they were kept and trained, and what other breeds influenced the Trakehners. Then you look at Finnhorses and it’s like “yeah we don’t know what the fuck got added to this breed for a couple decades, but we measured every horse harness from that time period and have deduced that the horses were probably a bit shorter than they are now”
