Vihreät kuulat
Candies seem to vanish at an alarming rate. Who could it be?
This picture makes more sense if you’re Finnish or know Finnish culture well.
I have the red Mariskooli on my desk but haven’t eaten any Vihreät Kuulat this Christmas and the house is full of decorative gnomes which to my knowledge are not moving but I could be wrong.

Soon it'll be outdoor flea market season, which is when I do a lot of my vintage jewelry shopping... so I did an inventory of my collection of Finnish design jewelry. Most of it is vintage modernist/brutalist stuff.
Top left pic is Jorma Laine (big round and belt), Pertti Peuri, and Karl Laine (silver). Top right is all Pentti Sarpaneva. Bottom left is Seppo Tamminen (leftmost) and the other two are probably Kalevi Sara/Kultasepät Salovaara. Last pic is all Kalevala Koru, the two big pendants are vintage the rest modern. Note how much warmer in color the vintage bronze is.
I note that I still don't have any Hannu Ikonen. His lichen collection pieces have an awesome look, so will be especially on the lookout for some of that.

“I’m wearing a gorgeous Sofia Ilmonen top from her previous collection, pleated vintage pants, vintage sandals and a hama beads bag. Sunglasses are old Ace&Tate. I'm always inspired by contrasts, a mix of fabrics and layers but hot summers tend to make things a bit difficult. Fall is my favorite season fashionwise.”

Full table setting of Tapio Wirkkala for Finnish company Iittala. The decorative ice platter, designed in 1976, was recently re-released by the company. Handcrafted by casting molten glass into a mould, which is then spun so the glass spreads out and takes the shape of the object. The moulds used are the original ones, handcrafted by Tapio Wirkkala himself.
