A couple of days ago mINTP tripped and twisted his ankle. Because of how he fell on it, he also scraped a good chunk of skin off his foot and probably sprained 2 fingers. He didn't want to go to the hospital to get it looked at, insisting "I'm fine!" His family and I freak out at the blood and swelling. INFP sister bursts into tears just looking at him hobbling around, just bawling "mINTP! mINTP! mINTP!" (INFP was convinced he is gonna die from an ankle injury). The fact that he kept laughing it off reassuring us he would be fine DESPITE telling us that he is in so much pain was giving INFP and me anxiety. What an annoying a**hole. When he finally washes the blood off and we are able to assess the damage, it just looks worse than it actually is. He should heal in a couple weeks, but let this be a lesson to those of you who have INTP friends or family members. INTPs can be very difficult (possibly obnoxious) to deal with when injured or sick. We don't like for people to know when we are weak or vulnerable. This makes the few people who care about us worry like crazy. Despite thinking that we are the grand masters of masking what is really going on, when things get bad, you start to see cracks in the mask. We don't like people to fuss over us, but we often forget how much we neglect ourselves--physical, mental, emotional/spiritual health--running ourselves to the ground...don't give up on your INTP. We are terrible at caring for ourselves and recognizing when we might need help, but excellent at convincing ourselves that we don't need or want anyone's help. We do.
