I would love to see a 100 year war prequel. I mean, not necessarily a show. Book or comics is fine

The potential is insane. A world/generational war with no Avatar to help the people

There are a lot of tales be explored. Younger versions of adult characters from ATLA and new characters. The reign of Sozin and Azulon, the search of the last airbender, the horrifying southern water tribe genocide, the siege of ba sing se etc

What are your headcanons on Zuko and Izumi’s relationship?

ah!! Thank you for asking :) I apologize for the wait!

- in my mind, zuko and izumi are really close, to him, she is the most perfect person on earth and the two of them have a very healthy relationship

- zuko panics before izumi is born for Many Reasons, but once he sees her everything changes

- the first time she gets sick he makes katara fly across the world to heal her (it was a mild fever)

- ok this feels more canon than hc at this point but zuko fs calls her turtle duck

- I love the idea of Izumi being a little dorky and zuko just completely matching the energy Bc he’s a nerd and Bc he grew up in a home where his dad/those around him were unsupportive of “unnecessary”/“useless” interests

- zuko takes izumi to all of his mother’s favorite plays, they buy the same snacks and sit in the same seats he would as a child

- sometimes when they would go out to plays, he and izumi would dress up in a disguise so they could sit closer to the action (izumi found this particularly hilarious)

- zuko teaches Izumi in fire bending most of the time, she has an instructor but he’s really involved

- zuko takes zooms to the dragons when she’s 16

- zukos actually pretty cool about izumi dating, it’s part of how she can be a normal teenager

- izumi almost can’t picture the version of her dad from her aunts and uncles stories, bc the person who raised her is so incredibly gentle/caring/sweet/patient/dorky and not as abrasive as he was in his teens

- zuko, Mai, and izumi have family dinner nearly every night, have family days every other (if not every) weekend of her childhood, and family week around the holidays before/after their time with the Gaang (reversing generational trauma for both parents)

- izumi grows to be as tall (if not taller) than her dad (aang knows it’s from her grandmothers side)

- izumi has a big fear of losing her dad

- Ik there’s two sides but im really team “Izumi is not only a fire bender but a prodigy like her aunt” for a bunch of reasons and I think it’d be cool also cause it kinda forces zuko (and Mai tbh) to like learn and unlearn what being a prodigy can mean

- there’s actually a phenomenal fic that encapsulates what I’m trying to say called “The Gift of the Blue Dragon” by CameraLux(TinCanTelephone) - makes me cry each time

SO i’ve seen some people confused abt the fire nation rulers during the Hundred Year War and how old they were etc, so i decided to do a wiki deep dive and type it all out! let’s go (note: people in a:tla seem to reach 100+ fairly easily, so don’t be surprised by some numbers on this chart)

quite obviously, the Hundred Year War lasted exactly 100 years (from sozin’s comet to sozin’s comet) and was started by Fire Lord Sozin, so let’s also start there

Fire Lord Sozin

82BG - Sozin is born

58BG - Sozin ascends to the throne at 24 

37BG - Sozin and Roku argue/battle over fire nation colonies when they are 45

12BG - Roku dies at 70 years old to the volcano

0AG - Sozin is 82, the comet comes and the war starts, air nomads are destroyed, etc

0AG - Azulon is born

20AG - Sozin dies at 102, Fire Lord Azulon takes the throne

Sozin’s reign lasted for 78 years, 20 years of it during the war

20AG - Azulon ascends to the throne at 20 

40AG - raids on the southern water tribe start

Iroh and Ozai do not have confirmed birth dates, but they would be born somewhere between Azulon’s ascension to the throne and King Kuei’s ascension to the throne

79AG - King Kuei ascends to the earth kingdom throne as a child and Long Feng is appointed regent

83AG - Zuko is born

94AG - General Iroh begins his siege of Ba Sing Se and Katara and Sokka’s mother dies

95AG - Lu Ten is killed, Ursa kills Azulon, and Ozai takes the throne. Azulon was 95 years old

Azulon’s reign lasted 75 years, all of it at war

Fire Lord Ozai

95AG - Ozai ascends to the throne at an unknown age

97AG - Zuko is banished

99AG - Aang is found and the show begins

100AG - Zhao kills the moon, the rest of the show happens, and Ozai is deposed. Zuko ascends to the throne as Fire Lord at age 16/17

Ozai’s reign lasted 5 years, and it ended with the war

Sozin: Started the war and eradicated the Air Nomads and the dragons.

Azulon: Technically eradicated the Water Benders of the Southern Water Tribe and conquered most of the Earth Kingdom.

Iroh: Became a world renowned War General and learnt from the last 2 dragons in the world.

Zuko: Restored peace and balance to the world, as well as the Fire Nation’s honor in the later years and its stability.

Azula: Technically killed the Avatar and conquered Ba Sing Se in less than a day and accomplished what even her predecessors couldn’t at age 14, without even any bloodshed.

Ozai: Dramatically proclaimed himself as Phoenix King.
