RIP Yuji Ohno 💔
Every woman Lupin has ever loved (save for Fujiko) has been a fleeting romance, a port in the storm that he has left and tucked away neatly in his memory, never to return.
So Jigen has never told Lupin that he loved him, for fear of being loved back.
He is terrified of being left behind; that if Lupin were to love him, he would stop seeing Jigen as a fellow traveler, and instead as a milestone on the way. That Lupin would finally give him back the love he had always craved, then abandon him once the flame has finished burning.
And because Jigen is always so insistent on the fact that they are just friends, just business partners, so adamant that he shouldn’t get attached, always teasing or mocking Lupin and his flings that make him lose his head, Lupin knows that Jigen cannot love him. That Jigen would leave him the second Lupin would express the slightest romantic feeling for him. That Jigen would believe Lupin sees him as one of those disposable romances. That he’d be disgusted by Lupin’s love, something that he has always deemed laughable and a weakness. When really, Jigen is the love of Lupin’s life, his pillar and his light, his only loyal companion and the only one he can’t afford to lose.
And so they pine in silence.

(guess who’s still hung up on the gay subtext of Fire Treasure, and has now latched onto the English lyrics of the 2000 version, which are clearly not about JigLup but are giving me major feels anyways?)
I'm traveling light, on looking back now Cause life's a game, don't want regrets Moving on from memories Though we loved so tenderly All these things are behind me, and I'm free to go

@writer-and-artist27 Did I share this before? I can’t remember. Either way, enjoy.

If you want to see me lose my entire sack of marbles about Fire Treasure and The Castle of Cagliostro, check out the post I made right after watching it! (for the record: I am still internally screaming about it)
