Breakdown (in communication) || Shook
Sid still wasn't up for just walking his way around town; the infection was lingering and, frankly, it hurt after a while. And he had two perfectly good cars, or rather one good car and one half-held-together car that he'd bought off the woman at the garage because he didn't want to see it get scrapped. Because he was an idiot with sentimental attachments to machines and, no, that wasn't normal but on the scale of not normal with him it was the lower end of the proverbial list.
He'd decided to take the little car out because after a few months of work and a dozen replaced parts it should have been working better, good enough to go across town and back. He was convinced the machine simply needed someone to be confident in it and it would rally.
It also apparently needed (another) new fuel line.
Sid could hear the squeaking groan and the real insult to injury was that it rolled to an unenthusiastic stop just a few houses down from his own, uttered the sigh of a dinosaur refusing to budge and shuddered itself into a standstill.
It was a moody little machine.
He sat there staring at his house trying to will it closer and when that didn't work had no choice but to climb out, walk around to shove the hood up to dig around and discover the problem, curse himself over the knowledge that he didn't have that part in his garage where he could go retrieve it and fix it there in the street and, finally, was left with nothing to do but stand there.
That didn't last too long when someone tried to bypass him and Sid was forced to the sidewalk, listening to the driver complaining about the whole thing while he rolled his eyes.
Hood shut, he circled a moment before resigning himself to the back of the car, knowing damn well pushing the thing was going to be miserable but was it surprising? No.
And then the universe decided to make it all worse because he heard a familiar voice.

It’s trippy having started One Piece when I was 12, cause I don’t think I’d ever fully let go of my perception of the characters being older than me.
Cut to: me, now, 28, sitting here all shook by the realization that Zoro’s 19-21…
