Do you have any information about the gender dynamics between say
Cinccino or Ninetales?
For those who don't know: Minccino and Ninetales both have a sex ratio of 25% Male and 75% Female.
The short answer for minccino is polygamy.
Here's a fun ecology fact: In pokemon, when there are more females than males, there tends to be a lot less monogamy because it's easier for males to produce sperm than it is for females to hold the egg inside of them for a couple weeks, go through the pain of laying the egg, and then having to raise the pokemon that hatch from the eggs. Biologically speaking, if the male stayed with one partner and helped her raise the pokemon to Adulthood, then that would leave a lot of other females who can't find any males to mate with, which can cause a decline in population. So, a lot of male pokemon with skewered gender ratio in favor of females evolved to have them, excuse my language but it's easier than trying to find words (which I'm already bad at), "Drip and dip." This is minccino. Males don't stick around to raise the babies because they gotta look for the next female to mate with.
Ninetales is an interesting case because, despite having a 25/75 male and female gender ratio, they still mate for life. There isn't much competition for males because, why? They discovered the concept of ✨️1 male and 2-3 female polygamy✨️. Basically: male Ninetales pair bonds with 2-3 females (who are usually all aware of each other), mates with all of them, and they all take care of the litters together. This works well because when there are 3-4 parents, the little pixies (baby vulpix) have a much higher survival rate than if there are just 2 parents. Tasks get distributed evenly amongst the three as well so, while one mom may be nursing both litters, the dad and the other mom may go hunting. It works for them. Zorua and (wild) fenniken do this, too.
And before anyone asks: yes, there are cases of the female ninetales pair bonding romantically while also still pairbonding with their male partner. It does happen.

Day 5 of wanting this fennekin plushy!
I’ll see everybody tomorrow!!! Goodbye to all of the Pokemon lovers and others!!!
More warmup painting exercises with acrylic inks, featuring some gen 2 fire types. Magby is just such a cute little goober, and I wanted to have some fun with adding lava textures to Magcargo and Slugma. It's still a tricky substance to paint but I think I'm getting there!
