The world was a little darker, that was for sure…truth was, everything felt off. It was as if someone had just removed a whole room from her house in one night. Like someone had ripped a part of her life away that in hindsight, she didn’t realise how big a part of her life Gabby had been and yet, that paled to Matt. If she was devastated, she couldn’t imagine how Matt was feeling.
It was funny in some sick and twisted way, she had moved here because people back in Fallerton thought that she was weak, that she was incapable of surviving by herself but Chicago had offered her a family. It had given her friends that encouraged her, that pushed her to be better, that had believed in her…and Gabby had always been there. Through everything she had been there despite all of her flaws, had encouraged her to stand up for herself, but not lose the softness that made Sylvie…well Sylvie. For a moment Sylvie contemplated the idea that she wouldn’t be the person she was today if it wasn’t for her family at the firehouse. To loose someone, so fast, without a goodbye…it hurt.
“Hey…” It wasn’t like the Chinese food and beer she had in her hands was going to help heal that hurt for either of them, but Sylvie guessed arriving empty handed wouldn’t help either so why not? Who else’s front door was she going to turn up at, eyes rimmed red, make up cried off in her car as she tried to comprehend it all. “I um….I figured that…” maybe it had been totally wrong to just show up? “Neither of us were really okay right now and…it’s probably better to eat food and drink beer with someone then to cry in my car.”
