Erik has died (you send me angst, you're gonna get angst back, heads up c: )
“…..has died.” finish it in my ask: ( @mutxntrage )
Charles said very little that day. In fact, he didn’t even step out of his room. For the entire day he locked himself up, and basically sat on a singular spot on his bed for hours on end as he let a multitude of emotions swirl inside of him.
FrustrationSadnessAngerDoubt
It was eating him up. He almost felt like Jekyll and Hyde- Half of him was incredibly angry at Erik. Didn’t he know the consequences of his actions?! Going against Shaw like that… It was imbecilic! A suicide mission! Charles had warned him that he wasn’t strong enough, and now look where his stubbornness got him.
Of course, the other half of him was just… Sad. There was no other way of putting it. Doubt clouded Charles mind. As much as Erik put himself in this position, Charles couldn’t help but beat himself up over it. He could’ve stopped him. Who knows, maybe he could’ve joined Erik with taking Shaw down. That way if they do take Shaw down, at least Erik’s desire for revenge would be put to rest.
Charles only slipped out of his room once nightfall came. The mansion was quiet. He noticed a plate of untouched food left in the kitchen- left by Raven. He didn’t want to worry her, or anybody else in the house. He just wasn’t hungry. He turned the lights on and made his way towards Cerebro. Charles really didn’t know what he was going to accomplish with this. Perhaps, using Cerebro and finding more mutants in need would help get his mind off of Erik’s death? Maybe finding more mutants would fill that void filled with doubt? Perhaps helping others find their way would lessen the guilt.
Whatever it was, he switched the machine to its full power and placed the machine on his head. The thing with Cerebro is that when using it your mind has be cleared. Whilst using your mind, you had to find serenity. Charles was far from serenity that night. It didn’t take long for the machine to start sparking. His mind felt like it was going to explode. The telepath let out a scream as electric volts filled the air.Silence.Like some sort of frustrated child, Charles threw the helmet off his head before promptly slumping against the nearby wall. He felt like he was nine-years-old again. Lost. As he brought his knees up to his chest, Charles just sat there and cried.
So much for serenity.....
