^Took this picture the other day as proof of why I shouldn’t be allowed to shop on Ebay. Still waiting for what I think is the 2002 edition of The Queen of Attolia to arrive. But now I have hardcover first editions! 

Since these are both ex-library copies, do y’all think I should removed the plastic jackets or leave them as is?

J.G. Ballard's Crash - UK First Edition, Jonathan Cape.

Crash, along with Empire of the Sun, is perhaps Ballard's best known work. Not solely due to the Cronenberg film, and the controversial subject matter but also because it's a masterful work.

The book is presented with a jacket designed by the era's top cover artist Bill Botten. A striking, highly-stylised and provocative image, the original of which was sold at auction a couple of decades ago.

Our copy is without fading, a common flaw and presents very well. Indeed, this is one of those books of which the pleasure of owning it doesn't diminishes with time. Without a doubt, this is a highlight of modern first edition fiction.

T.E. Lawrence - Revolt in the Desert Limited Edition

London, Jonathan Cape, 1927. Large Paper Edition. One of 315 copies, of which 300 were for sale. 11 tissue-guarded colour plates and 8 uncoloured plates as called for. The book and jacket are in good condition. There has been some contact with water at some point causing some bleeding to the foreedge of the first few leaves, and most significantly to the rear pastedown and rear endpaper. The wear is visible on the rear board also. The jacket is in similar condition, with areas where the water has damaged the book. There's also a good chunk of the jacket missing to the front and similar chunks to the rear. It has been poorly reinforced on the inside. Presents surprisingly well when view from the spine though which is sharp and largely complete. First tissue guard is loose. Presented with an advert for Jonathan Cape's other noteworthy books.
