Wellesley for Adequate and Accessible Resources petition
Students are organizing on campus for resources for first generation and low income students, see petition below.
“We, Wellesley for Adequate and Accessible Resources, do not believe that all students have received equity in mentorship, sponsorship, support, or empowerment to “experience Wellesley.” We are dissatisfied with the resources offered to disadvantaged students and the state of mental health care on campus. The sparse resources currently offered are inadequate and inaccessible. We demand that the school take immediate and effective action to improve the welfare of all students.
Wellesley College must address its “bias for privilege” by taking active steps to enhance education access for first-generation and low income students. Wellesley must do more than recruit and enroll for diversity credit. It must continue to provide for all students after enrollment to ensure equity in academic performance, “on-time” graduation rates, and general well-being.
If Wellesley is invested in promoting well-being or even recognizes its liability for our care, then it must reform the Stone Center. Its liability, or in other words, legal responsibility, encompasses both physical and mental health. Any failure to sufficiently meet those needs leaves Wellesley College at fault for improper healthcare."
