i think food souls are demons!
okay okay so. i love food fantasy but there were always some things that stuck out and didn’t quite make... much sense, at least not to me. it wasn’t until i really went through the wiki that i... i guess realized why? a lot of the food fantasy details fit with a demon oriented game!
for one, to get food souls, you summon them- the game is very explicit in that you SUMMON them, not that you pull them or pull them, or like in strike force you just get enough shards.
2) there is a higher church in the game (with a few food souls actively involved in it) that is also closely tied with the major food soul "experiments" which brings us to point 3
3) food souls are contracted with master attendants who are not the normal humans and treated with a higher respect (warlocks). they also have actively special abilities they can use (the talents) to help the food souls, while also not being able to take direct action in the battle.
4) food souls are immortal, ageless beings with unexplained powers
5) peking duck has a dialogue line where he says this: "Honestly the Fallen and we Food Souls are essentially the same thing. Maybe it be better for me to be a Fallen, shall we give it a go? Hehe, don't worry, I was only joking."
6) boston lobster is referred to as a fallen angel/ there is a referenced Bad Thing where food souls turn into fallen angels.
7) while they work for/are contracted to master attendants, food souls often dont LIKE humans. boston lobster hates them, for one, and a lot of them actually give you borderline rude dialogues (red wine). they dont ALL like humans, and in fact quite a lot of them are either neutral (coffee keeps a tone of playing, like he doesnt HAVE to be here, hes only contracted for his amusement) or outright rude
8) this clip from the wiki: "A world that was once looked after by the gods finally started its era of human ruling approximately 500 years ago. However, since the Wang Li era, the fate of the world took a drastic turn. The appearance of Fallen Angels slowly narrowed down the scope of human survival, and life was under unprecedented threat. Although the world is in rapid decline and destruction as a result of the Fallen Angels invasion, it still maintains its strong will to survive." shows that fallen angels came FIRST and food souls were contracted to help stop them
9) food souls and fallen angels look extremely similar, with the only differences being food souls appear more "human". some are called elves and have sharp ears, and some (takowasa, boston lobster, awamori, hardtack, lutefisk, and nori) have visible 'corruptions'. takowasa has tentacles, boston has his claws, awamori has a single blue horn, hardtack and nori have smaller black horns, and lutefisk secrets a poison.
10) a common enemy in the game are greyed out versions of playable food souls
11) its not really stated what caused food souls to appear, only that humans began summoning them to fight fallen angels!
12) the wording on Fallen Angels, which is usually a term saved for demons- those being once angels, now fallen. all in all i think that the food souls are demons that have been contracted to the master attendants!
