FirstRaid is just too precious. Who was the 'carrier'? :3
Sorry! I turned a simple ask into a long ass carrier theory…
Because I follow the MTMTE setting that cybertronians are grown on the ground like a cabbage, I need some extra explanation for the carrier idea to work in the IDW universe.
I think First Aid would come up with the carrier idea. Brainstorm did it once, sort of. But since he almost doesn’t have a living spark, it’s easy to house another foreign spark inside his body without two spark energy disrupt each other and leads to disaster.
Plus, it’s such a tragedy to have to watch a spark field dies off and unable to do anything simply because they don’t have the proper equipment to harvest and further incubate/keep the sparks.
Inspired by those two incidents, First Aid developed a method to minimize the spark energy disruption so that individual cybertronians could incubate an immature spark inside their body to provide essential materials for the immature spark to fully develop.
The method is to modify a part of the “carrier’s” body to make a temporary spark incubator like “organ” to house the spark and regulate the foreign spark energy emitting from the immature spark implant.
Because the spark energy interference can’t be blocked 100%, to reduce the effect on the fragile immature spark, the carrier’s spark energy has to be tuned down from some circuits, which will heavily drain the carrier’s health.
For this reason, more than one carrier are needed to complete the incubation cycle. The number depends on who’s available and the participants’ health condition. It’s a delicate process which involves careful calculation: mechs with a weak spark such as Chromedome are not recommended to carry a spark for too long. Green spark carriers are not suitable for long time incubation either. Although they’re called “load-bearer”, but their spark energy is too strong, it’s no good for the immature spark unless it’s also a green spark, which is stronger than regular spark.
First Aid and Sixshot came across a box of frozen sparks left and forgotten by either the Autobots or Decepticons during the war.
The spark storage was broken because of old age and lack of maintenance. First Aid wanted to save all sparks, but they didn’t have any equipment. First Aid had to pick the strongest one (not a green spark, just a regular one) so that it will have the greatest chance of surviving this untested carrier method.
Sixshot carried the spark first because First Aid can do the body modification necessary for the incubation on him more easily. And being a phase sixser, his body can endure some trail errors on his end, especially during the early spark developmental period, when the immature spark is at it’s weakest stage and can’t take any try error mistake.
First Aid carried the spark through the mid and terminal stage because green spark energy is not good for normal spark. Fortunately First Aid is a strong mech, he stubbornly endured 2/3 of the process.
They both felt like dying during and after carrying the spark though lol
