My first blog

The following pictures are not just about my weekend, but they go more into the experimenting process of myself getting used to a camera.

This is a picture of my Water Dragon, the first thing that I thought of to take a picture. Her name is Liza, and she is 3 years old. (Yes, she was on the bed).

This is a picture of my favorite spot in the house. The little corner with the lamp on. 

This is Emma, my best friend. I was very enthusiastic about my camera, and she was willing to be photographed. 

This is Rosemary (Rose), my best friend too. She was happy about the new camera just as I was. However, she is shy, so she was trying to hide herself with her hair.

This is my pink rabbit, hanging on my pink backpack. When I was little, I used to hate the color pink, just because I thought that was what girls were forced to like. Now, I am free from that. Now, I love pink.

This is homework I had to do for my Graphic Design class. They are just some sketches that I have to improve. 

This is Emma, again. She was walking to class, and I was heading to work.  I love her grey hair.

This picture was taken on campus, but those are my work shoes. Sometimes I have to run from one place to another, so I don’t have so much time to change.

While walking, I passed by the Bulldog bites to get a breakfast sandwich. 

I cannot take pictures at work, but I took a picture of a bottle of water instead. I work at Vallarta Supermarkets, and this bottle is from there.

Finally, I took a picture of the United States flag that is located on campus. I am from a country called Guatemala, and unfortunately the opportunities that I have here were not available there. I am thankful to be here.

New Camera 📷

Finally I bought my first camera 📷 and it is awesome !!!!!!

Photography is everywhere we go. Most things have photography involved. Where do you think we’d be without it?   Of course, we didn’t always have the luxury of today's technology. Cameras started to evolve before we even considered ‘photography’ to be part of a camera’s purpose.  At first, it was just an idea.  The earliest camera known on the timeline was the camera obscura. The idea dates back as far as 400 B.C, but some people think it could’ve stretched further back than that.   Chinese philosopher, Mo-Tzu, exposed the idea before an Arab scholar, Ibn Al-Haytham recreated the idea in a physical form.   These first camera obscuras were often made of a small room, or dark box with a small hole in one of its outside facing walls where light is let in, to produce an upside down, backwards imagine on the opposite wall where the light is shining through. It was often used for imagine tracing accurately.   Although this camera didn’t take any actual photos yet, thanks to Ibn Al-Haytham, we were able to see the idea of a camera evolve, we had something physical to look at and began to understand the potential in the years to come.  Next time you’re travelling, or even running errands, think about how easy we have it at the click of a button.

Look what I found! Cleaning my office, box full of junk, and at the bottom is my very first camera, a Kodak Tele-Instamatic. This was just before the Michael Landon commercials. As I recall it was $24–does that sound right?—I came across it walking through a Sears with my mother and grandmother—and I just had to have it. Don’t know why but I really had to have it. I only had about half of the money and I must have begged—money was very tight—and my grandmother and mom gave in a paid the rest. Life-changing as it turned out. The shutter had only two speeds (that was the first camera fact I learned) and if you put a dead flashbar into it the camera would shoot at the longer speed, thinking you were in low light with flash (trying to get better exposed backgrounds, I suppose). But with the dead flash attached you could trick the camera and shoot much better night photos. My first technique!
