First Daughter | 2004
JFK and Caroline Short Stories!
Howdy, ya’ll!! I hope you’re all doing well! So, I had been going through my drafts and found a selection of short stories that I had written and had taken inspiration from some stories that I’ve found on here. I thought that I would share some of them with you! Let me know if you want a part two!!!
Caroline, his little Buttons, was the apple of his eye. Jack didn't like to have her too far away from him at all times, and always preferred to know where she went, in order to prevent her from getting hurt.
Caroline, from day one, had enraptured his heart, and he found himself spoiling her whenever he had the chance. Whether it was from buying her a toy that she wanted, to giving her money to buy candy, or even letting her chew gum in his office, despite his wife's disapproval.
It was another night with Jack working in the Oval Office, filling out various paperwork, while he let his daughter play on the floor. Throughout the months of letting Caroline come and stay with him throughout the day, Jack had become very skilled at multi-tasking, scanning over the documents while occasionally glancing up at his daughter to make sure that she wasn't getting herself into any trouble.
Jack rubbed his temple, a pencil in his hand, and after doing so, Jack took a glance up at Caroline. She was sitting on the floor quietly, playing with a few dolls that she had in hand. Smiling softly, he watched his daughter move her dolls across the rug, when he saw her jaw move, which captured his curiosity.
//What does she have in her mouth? I didn't give her anything. //
"Caroline, are you eating candy?" Jack asked, curious. He wanted to make sure that she didn't have anything that she found off the floor, or something that she would choke on.
Caroline didn't answer, but kept on playing with her dolls, without a care in the world.
Her jaw moved again, and Jack could feel his heart rate begin to pick up.
"Caroline, are you eating candy?"
Jack's heart skipped a beat. // I don't want for her to choke on anything.//
Still, there was no response.
"Caroline, are you chewing on candy? Yes, no, or maybe?"
Caroline scampered over to her father, a smile on her face, the candy rolling around her mouth.
"Who gave you this?" Jack asked, with a smile but a tad of seriousness. He needed to know where it came from.
"Caroline, please." He begged.
"Mrs. Lincoln gave it to me," Caroline responded, before skipping out of the Oval Office.
Jack felt the concern deepen.
"Don't run!" He called after her, always coddling.
---
Jack was taking a bath for his back, as he usually would do in the morning. His back was a bit tighter than it usually was, the hot water always helped loosen the muscles. This time, Jack's personal assistant, Thomas, had drawn his bath earlier that morning.
He usually asked to make sure that his personal bathroom was stocked with plenty of plastic boats and rubber ducks, in case his children came in the morning to visit their father, as they so often did.
Whenever there was a guest in the residence, they were often sent to Jack's bathroom, a mix between a child and an adult. They would often be confused to see the rubber ducks lining the shelves with expensive products placed next to them. It was often humorous for Jack to see his friends and family's faces after walking out of the bathroom to see the confusing themes.
One morning, Jack was relaxing in the tub, as usual; the morning's newspaper not too far out of reach, the black ink slowly running down his arm. Jack closed his eyes, determined not to fall asleep, just enjoying the warm water before a long day at work. The steam was rising from the water, cleansing his face and dampening his hair.
Jack could feel himself beginning to doze off, and knew that he was going to have to start moving soon in order to prevent himself from falling asleep. Before he could feel himself nod off, the sound of the door opening and little feet running onto the bathroom and the sound of her daughter's voice causing for him to flick open his eyes to see his daughter's bright smile looking back at him.
"Morning, Daddy!" Caroline shouted, and Jack smiled at his daughter. Although he was up around 7:00 in the morning, his young daughter already had plenty of energy.
//Young children and their early morning shots of energy. //
"Good Morning, Buttons," Jack responded, a massive smile on his face.
"Let's play, Daddy!" Caroline shouted, jumping up and down. Jack was scared that Caroline was going to trip, so he quickly reached up, grabbing the ducks off the side of the tub and throwing them into the bubbly water.
Caroline let out a laugh as she let her toy duck swim around in the water, Jack grabbed the boat, making motor sounds as he played with his daughter.
Caroline let out a small laugh as the two continued to play together. The two continued to get ready for the day; the most powerful man in America was relaxing with his daughter.
---
Jack rubbed his temple between his hands, as members of his cabinet continued to bicker back and forth with each other. They were discussing the rising tensions in Vietnam, and the further action that they were willing to take on the matter. Jack was getting annoyed from the amount of the back and forth chatter with each other about the same thing. Jack felt as though they were beating a dead horse, and he could feel his annoyance grow more and more by the second.
Jack heard the door open, but didn't look up to see who entered the room. He figured that it was someone who had more information, or someone who was going to enter the conversation. Jack was sitting at his desk, focusing on MacNamara and other members of the cabinet, shooting back and forth to each other.
Jack closed his eyes, and continued to rub his fingers in his eyes, when he felt a tug on his suit pant. He removed his hands from his eyes, and glancing down to see his beaming daughter staring up at him.
"Hi, Daddy!" She beamed, and Jack couldn't help but feel his annoyance and anger just melt away completely from his body. Caroline staring up at him softened his heart, the love and admiration radiating from her eyes.
"Why, hello, Buttons!" Jack began, picking up his daughter to let her sit in his lap, while kissing her forehead. "What are you up to?"
"Not much. I got out of school and Mummy was with John and I wanted to be with you instead," Caroline told him, snuggling into her father's embrace.
The people in the room had ceased their chatter and looked up at their boss to see his daughter in his arms.
"Caroline, why don't you tell our friends here what you learned about in school," Jack began, beaming with pride.
"Well, we learned all about adding and subtracting. We also learned about different animals that you can find around the world. I got them all right," Caroline responded, beaming with pride.
"Really now," Jack responded, a the smile of a proud father gracing his face. "I'll name a few animals, and you can show everyone how smart you are," Jack responded, and Caroline nodded, a large smile on her face.
"What kind of animal slithers on the ground?"
"A snake!"
"What kind of animal howls at the moon?"
"A wolf!"
Jack had a massive smile on his face, he was filled with pride with every question that Caroline was able to get right.
---
It had been a long day at the Oval Office, and Jack was looking forward to some downtime with his children. Today had been an especially busy day, and there hadn't been much time for many visits at the Oval Office. Earlier that morning, he and Caroline had eaten breakfast together as usual, but that was about all of the contact that they had that day.
Jack had eaten dinner, and had changed from his suit into a sweater and more comfortable clothing, and had walked into their children's playroom, and grabbed a plethora of books off of the shelves. He planned on reading to Caroline for a while, and wanted to spend plenty of time with his daughter. After he had managed to find enough books that he knew Caroline would have loved, Jack moved to Caroline's room. Before he could walk in to see his daughter, Jack saw Maud Shaw, the children's baby sitter, leaving the adjoining bedroom where their younger son, John Jr., was sleeping.
"Oh, Mr. President!" Maud Shaw called softly, and Jack turned around.
"Is Caroline in there?" Jack asked excitedly, and Maud shook her head no.
"I'm sorry, Mr. President. Did Mrs. Kennedy not tell you? Caroline is not home tonight. She's at a sleepover tonight with some friends. She won't be home until the morning."
Jack felt his heart fall to the floor, and he let all of the books go, watching them fall. The books thundered on the ground, but Jack could only stare at them, and think about the lost moment that he had missed out with his daughter on.
He then looked up at Miss. Shaw, before responding.
"What in the- she's GOT to start staying home more often."
Kebahagiaan Anak Pertama Perempuan

I'm watching First Daughter (2004)
Our beautiful first daughter was born today. 12 years already!!! Gabriella, the day you were born was the happiest day of my life. You made me a mum and made your dad a first time dad. Looking at your face, all my body pains from delivering you disappeared. I couldn’t believe that I was your mum, I couldn’t stop staring at you. It felt so surreal. You have been our blessing since that day. You’re calm, loving, genuine, selfless, caring, thoughtful, I could go on and on. The best chef in the world, the best creative kid I know. I still wonder what I did to deserve a blessing as you. You are not only my daughter but also my best friend; we talk about everything. You’re so mature and gives the best advice. A true Pisces ♓️ you are. Extremely caring, non judgemental, always putting others first. Thank you for being the best first daughter anyone could wish for. Whenever people say I’m a good mother, I always say it’s not just me taking all the credit, Gaby is so easy to mother. She makes motherhood very easy.., because she’s such an obedient, understanding and loving daughter. "Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think." "Happy birthday, our precious daughter! You are loved today, tomorrow, and always." "May your birthday be bright as your smile, warm as your heart, and as sparkly as your eyes. As you grow older, “I hope you achieve great heights in life, I hope you explore what the world has to offer, I hope you do not shrink who you are for anyone, I hope you take leaps of faith, I hope you continue to stay true to who you are, I hope you make mistakes and learn from them, I hope you take risks, and fulfill all your dreams, I hope you’re brave enough to walk away from things and people that do not bring out the best in you, I hope you love yourself enough to always “choose you”. Always remember, we will always be there to support and guide you. We will always love you. Mum and dad are absolutely super proud of you. We love you till infinity ♾ always and forever 🎉🎉❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🌺🌺🌺 #birthdaygirl #firstdaughter #mylove #mummysgirl #pisces (at Birthday Girl) https://www.instagram.com/p/CamHW0_Nm3U/?utm_medium=tumblr

Someday, someone is going to look at you like you’re the best thing in the world. Unknown.
Well, I have just noticed that one of those days, sometimes we forget our own cross. The thing(s) that is meant to be carried for the rest of our life, or perhaps, it is not a life time. Perhaps, it is held for certain of time. The thing is, we often forget that we are still carrying that cross. Or or or maybe we don’t forget at all, maybe we think that we have new cross to be held as we think we have finished holding the first cross. We think through God, we have won that cross. Well, tough life my friend, sometimes the first cross hasn’t finished at all. You are still holding it. You are still struggling with it. You are honored to be trusted with another cross or you are poured with new blessing as you feel the joy and seem like to be distracted.
That is me. I thought my first cross that I’ve carried since I was at a matriculation stage to be called and served as a wife, has been finished as I am honored to hold a new one. No. it’s still there. I am still struggling with it. Of course it is hard, but as I am carrying that cross, at the same time God strengthens me. It is two sides of a coin.
I always know that my strength is my husband. It has always been him. But this time, when I had moment to notice that I am still carrying the same cross, my strength is not just him. Apparently, God gives me another shoulder pad. It is our Celine. It is not just her existence, but it is also her affection to me. Someday, out of nowhere, she looks at me as I’m the best thing in her world. I do not remember when did it start, but I’ve always been touched by the way she looks at me. This kind of love, I never felt it before. She is not our first born, but she certainly is our first daughter. And of course it is definitely not a one-sided love. I have no idea how much longer God gives that kind of love for me as we all know, a little girl is growing up, probably doesn’t prefer to be called as a big girl, but a woman instead. Probably is not comfortable to be poured with hundred of kisses on her cheeks and forehead anymore. Probably will be excluding her mom from her gang with her cool girlfriends. Probably will be distracted with a love at her first sight. I don’t know. I have no idea, but I do hope it is a life time love. I don’t know. I have no idea, but I want to take that love with a grateful heart. I want to feel and enjoy that kind of love as it lasts. I want to be proud of her as always. And I want to celebrate her existence, her love. I want to celebrate her.
Celine, you may not our first born, but you always will be our first daughter. I am forever grateful for you entering my life. Should you always know that you are loved. Should you always know, even when you change, you are always be the best thing in my world. And it is a life time.
