i was reading about how when kick and joe jr were both living in england (kick because she was living with billy, joe jr because that's where he was stationed), kick and joe would have constant arguments over this underwood portable typewriter. neither of them would back down from saying it was theirs. joe eventually won this fight and got to keep the typewriter (his handwriting was so bad he once got special permission from harvard to typewrite all his essays). its just a stupid sibling fight but it is so so gut-wrenching because when joe died, he left kick the typewriter in his will. and she never used it once. she couldn't bring herself to.
Senator Kennedy makes a campaign appearance at a farm - 1960

"Can we not make it political?" Anyway a famous director was just murdered by his own son and the president of the United States officially declared it a good thing because he spoke out against him. 15 Jews celebrating Hanukkah were murdered by gunmen and the Israeli Prime Minister immediately blamed Australia for letting in Palestinian immigrants. Brown University in RI got shot up and the president of the United States blamed the school itself for failing to catch the killer. Maybe it's always political, actually.

Ask not what your country can do for you momma, but what you can do for… *hip thrusts and spins* your country *strikes a pose, everyone in the first row faints*
random silly pics I have of jack
god forbid a bitch catch a vibe with BOTH kennedy brothers 😒
I love every single person on this app who has an unhealthy obsession with the Kennedy’s y’all match my freak so good I have cackled for the past like fifteen minutes
Look what I made hours ago
seeing these two pictures side by side just breaks my heart to pieces. 1st one is jackie at jack's funeral, 2nd one is her at bobby's funeral. bobby held her hand all throughout the whole ordeal, from those first moments after jack was shot where they were accompanying his casket back to washington to the state funeral itself, he never stopped holding her hand :( and now at bobby's funeral, she was left alone. with no one to hold her hand, to mourn the loss of yet another loved one.. first jack, now bobby.
“No! It can’t have happened. It can’t have happened. Tell me it hasn’t happened.” – Jackie after learning that Bobby was shot.
following the funeral on june 8th, lady bird johnson recalled a short moment she had with jackie.
“She looked at me as if from a great distance as though I were an apparition. I murmured some word of sorrow and walked on… It was somewhat bewildering.” - Lady Bird Johnson.
Still dead
love how the first Games started out with Haymitch presumably thinking that he and Peeta could combine efforts and get Katniss home, but then it switches to him and Katniss combining efforts to get Peeta home too (because, again, the gifts after their alliance are not primarily to help Katniss survive) … which should tell you something about Haymitch (not unlike Mags) clocking what it was his tributes really wanted … the underlying motivation, and the defiant compassion …
The way that certain people are actively trying to tarnish the legacy of Camelot is absolutely vile. Reading the JFK Files should not be the business of anyone, but the Kennedy family, who, mind you, was most likely not given any prior recourse to them being released. I certainly will NOT be reading them.
It's like people want to portray his remembrance as Jack Kennedy, the former President who got shot in the head during a motorcade with his wife right by his side and whom also tried to pick up pieces of his fragmented skull.
JFK was more than just November 22nd, 1963. Reducing him to the final moments in Dallas is such an insult to him. And the countless conspiracies that have come out about him in recent years, which are so baseless and simply untrue.
He was a visionary leader who was way ahead of his time and inspired a whole generation. He challenged the country to reach for the stars. He launched the Apollo program which eventually put the first man on the moon. He was a champion for civil rights even when it was considered to be "politically inconvenient" for him. He was a diplomatic man who handled the Cuban Missile Crisis with a refreshing grace and manner which we can only long for to see from people in this day and age. And so much more at that...
Joan Kennedy said it best.
“I don’t think it’s fair to do to the deceased. They can’t defend themselves. I believe the Warren Commission because Senator Kennedy believed the Warren Commission. He didn’t think it did anyone any good to believe otherwise. It wouldn’t be good for The Country. It wouldn’t be good for The Kennedys."
