COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gov. Mike DeWine said Tuesday he didn’t know that FirstEnergy Corp., amid its self-acknowledged bribery campaign, made about $4 million in dark money payments backing his 2018 gubernatorial campaign.
A new trove of documents released as part of litigation stemming from FirstEnergy’s sweeping bribery campaign to pass 2019 legislation to bail out its nuclear plants reveal the company’s deep investment in what would become the DeWine ticket.
