oh god where to even start off with this bc first of all, fuck jk.r!!  but, honestly, i don’t think there’s much i like about how ginny is portrayed in canon.  

she’s basically known throughout the books by how she’s tied to men—from her brothers (which makes some sense), dean thomas, michael corner, harry.  even though the books and movies are pretty much through harry’s pov, i don’t like that the thing she’s kind of known for first is having a crush on harry.  yes, i know she’s seen first at  the train station in the first book and more just hoping to go with, but it’s not really what she’s known for. 

second, i hate how both her and hermione come to hogwarts seeming like they’ve never had a friend in their life.  ginny grew up near the diggorys and lovegoods and also had all her brothers.  i like to imagine she was friends with luna before going to school and everyone annoyingly calling her loony.

The  shifts  he  had  taken  at  the  video  store  were  grinding  him  down,  taking  all  the  energy  he  had  for  ‘  fucks  to  give  ‘,  which  left  Jug  the  type  of  guy  who  continuously  yawned  at  the  back  of  class.  Randy  wasn’t  exactly  his  friend  but  to  call  him  an  acquaintance  felt  too  cold  because  they’d  spent  many  hours  stocking  shelves  at  the  video  store  discussing  the  finer  details  of  horror.  All  of  this  was  to  imply  that  Jug’s  placement  on  the  social  hierarchy  ladder  was  a  few  rungs  lower  than  everyone  else.  The  irony  is  he  didn’t  care  but  everyone  else  seemed  to  take  stock  in  the  social  distances  that  made  up  friends  versus  pariahs.  

It  meant  Jug  wanted  to  personally  avoid  asking  Casey  Becker  if  she  needed  any  help  choosing  a  movie,  but  contractually  had  to  or  he  wasn’t  going  to  be  making  his  measly  minimum  wage  anymore.  The  name  tag  he  had  to  wear  on  his  uniform  t-shirt  was  upside  down  and  though  it  spelled  Forsythe,  he  refused  to  go  by  the  name  his  father  had  so  lovingly  bestowed  upon  him.  Ah  yes,  the  lineage  of  trauma  via  alcoholism  a  worthy  honor  to  pass  down.

Especially when it was to something he wasn’t especially excited to go to. “You know, I wasn’t even going to go to this.” He informed her, but he smiles softly at the energy she has.  “Aren’t all the cool kids always late to things, anyway?”
