Ian's mother was ill long before the events of the game (when Ian was a child), and constantly complained to Ian about it whenever anything bad happened, or when she was frustrated with him.

Because Ian didn't react in a way she expected, she thought he didn't care for years (Even though he felt bad each time), and so she mocked him for it. He grew desensitized to it over time.

my headcanon…. garbo (as a robot) is mildly defective. like a bug in the code. it wasn’t enough to make them unfit to be sent out to do their robo job but juust enough to make them occasionally not do said job. basically robot autism or adhd or depression i am not sure exactly what to compare it to

(also i should claim an anon name… i’ve sent like 3 hcs so far 4 including this one… hello i am fish anon)

I always find it neat when non-human beings have conditions that are hard to equate to humans. Robot autism. Since it's, like, a bug, would it be something you are able to "fix"? (For lack of a better term.) Imagine someone rooting around in your own mind, swapping a few numbers, and changing who you are as person. I am so happy I am not a robot bro.
