Old-School Cooking Meets Crispy Street Flavors! 👴👵🍤
Little Fish, 1606 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles (Echo Park), CA 90026
Little Fish rents a space from Dada. It’s a walk-up window and a covered outdoor patio with five communal tables. They serve breakfast from 8 AM – 11 AM (toast, tartine, congee, breakfast sandwich, pancakes) and lunch from 11 AM – 4 PM (sandwiches, salad, veg of the month). Sandwiches are made with Bub & Grandma’s bread. They use high quality, sustainably sourced ingredients, local if possible.
Fish congee ($15): rice porridge with striped bass, chili crisp, scallions, soft boiled egg. It’s on the small side but delivers on comfort – short grain rice with tender, mild pieces of bass, white pepper, chili crisp (not very spicy), lovely shiitake mushrooms, scallions, and a soft boiled egg with an impossibly orange/yellow yolk.
I was surprised that they didn’t have a drink menu. I didn’t see bottled drinks either, but they had a self-serve water station. I guess people go to Dada to buy a bottled drink or Dada Coffee to buy coffee or tea. There’s a separate cashier for Dada and Little Fish.
Place your order at the window and pay. They’ll give you a number and bring your food to you.
Bus your own table when you’re done. There were many no laptop signs, sadly.

It’s funny how getting older changes you and your taste buds! As a child I don’t remember liking the taste of any type of rice porridge or congee but my mum claims that she fed it to me when I was a baby and I enjoyed it.
When my daughter was born and started to eat solids, the first thing my mum suggested I cook was fish congee. She said the fish is good for her plus she will like the texture…
