@fistfulofgammarays replied to your post “would it be fucked up or what if Zarkon ended up...”:
!!! oh man, this would be such a good fucked up dynamic
it has soooo much potential. Zarkon growing to consider Keith as something of his protegee, while Keith is subconsciously filling the void Shiro left with Zarkon. they're both getting something out of this connection, like they're both being drawn to each other.
(it is because you two are both on like. the worst quintessence trip imaginable. 0/10 would not recommend.)
the tiny part of Keith that almost misses the connection when he's back in his right mind… and part of him that actually feels sympathy for Zarkon, because he gets it. He understands what happened to him. It doesn't mean he can forgive him, but if they were ever faced with a pre-corruption Zarkon like in canon, Keith would probably be the first one to trust him.
Or, to be less charitable, it’s like someone deciding to write a “Shakespeare-style” story without ever having read Shakespeare because they think it’s boring and lame. And I just wanna be like… why not? It’s got your attention right now doesn’t it??
To be perfectly clear I haven’t seen much of that in the Goncharov stuff I’ve browsed, at least not explicitly? But I’ve gotten a very distinct vibe from a lot of it, and it’s been needling at me. A big part of me suspects I’m just imagining things. Like maybe I’m just getting old and my body is naturally producing the desire to yell at young people as a byproduct of the aging process.
Oh well! Goncharov!!
🎨 favorite hobby
You didn’t specify a fandom so I picked one at random :D

Pike is passing by one of the many gardens in Zephrah when she hears a voice.
“Pickle! Come sit down.” Vax is cross-legged on a bench, an embroidery hoop in his lap. Next to him is a bag. Skeins of bright thread peek out, and a side pouch holds a pair of small scissors.
She climbs on the bench, watches Vax fill in a shape with careful, precise stitches. Life in Zephrah agrees with him. He’s easy and relaxed in a way she’s never seen, and all the time in the sun smooths away his usual pallor. But there is something about the way he bends over the needlework that radiates pleasure and contentment that is notable even here.
“I didn’t know this was a hobby of yours,” she says. Certainly she has seen him mend clothes or cut down a shirt from Grog to fit somebody (or many somebodies), but this is the first time she’s seen him do anything decorative with needle and thread.
“Our mother was a seamstress, so of course we learned the practical bits. But Vex never had any patience for making the pretty things, so she taught me. It was usually handkerchiefs, sometimes the trim of a skirt. Before we were taken to Syngorn she said I could help her on a dress for a lady from one of the bigger towns nearby.” His mouth thins, his eyes becoming distant.
Pike pats his knee. It brings him back from whatever bad memory he was recalling, and he smiles a little bit.
“It was one of the things I actually enjoyed there. It reminded me of our mother, and if I was bent over a piece of fabric I couldn’t get in trouble, so it was something Syldor did not discourage.”
"I'm glad you were able to find something to do there that you didn't hate." She doesn't know a lot about the twins' years in the elven city, but most of what they have told the group does not sound happy.
She watches him outline a leaf before a thought occurs to her.
"We've had plenty of downtime, and I've never seen you embroider?" It doesn't appear to be a matter of mobility, as they were quite stationary in both Emon and Whitestone.
"To be honest, it's not something I thought about for a long time. There was so much else going on. This is the first chance I've had to truly rest in… I don't actually know." They exchange a look of understanding, gratitude, for this reprieve, however long it will last.
"But it is good to get back to it. I have missed it more than I realized."
He looks at her for a second, considering, before pulling out a small hoop and a scrap of fabric.
"Hey Pickle, you want to give it a shot?"
Pike smiles. "Sure, why not?"
blue, claret for the color asks?
from these color asks
blue: preferred type of weather?
I like a balance of weathers, honestly, and it fully depends on what I’m doing. I love rain when we need it, especially summer thunderstorms that take all the tightness of the humidity out of the air. But I also like to spend a lot of time outside, so I love love love sunny or partially-sunny days between 60-85 degrees fahrenheit -- that’s a fairly wide range, but like, I’d like to run when it’s in the 60s, hang out at a pool when it’s in the 80s, all those good things. I also need snow to exist in order for my year to feel balanced, but I could do with a LOT less winter than we get sometimes. I do not need it to be -20 degrees in March, like, I did not ask.
Overall, I would be happy if MORE of the year was in the comfortable temps range and sunnier than it is, because my SAD, uh, sure does hate endless cold gray days :) and I’d rather deal with brain hell as little of the year as possible. So, as much as I love crisp fall days, it’ll never be my favorite season, since it heralds the beginning of Hell Times.
claret: do you play an instrument? do you want to learn to play any?
I’ve played viola since I was a little kid. I play violin by extension and necessity, but it’s not my primary instrument and will never feel like it. The closest thing I have to another primary instrument is handbells -- I’ve been in handbell ensembles since I was like 9, and I love them very much (another frustrating thing about living in COVID times is that ensembles can’t meet, though that sounds like a ridiculous thing to complain about given everything else)!
I play piano more casually -- I can’t really sightread anything with both hands to save my life, but I can play simple things, and it’s much more a “just for fun” thing. Same thing with recorder, except I’m probably a bit better at that. I can do basic chords on a guitar, but I’m pretty rusty at that... I’m comfortable enough with any string instruments, orff instruments, etc. that I can play around on them, less so with wind and brass, but I’m like, very much game to try out any and all instruments -- music is like, a very big part of my life.

Oh man, my sympathies. I binged through 40-something a while ago, and then picked it back up around the time the campaign ended and made it to around 70, but I’ve stalled again.
Haha! Thank you! I keep wondering if I can make it all the way through.

I have to admit, one of the reasons I’m excited to finish is so I can throw myself into fandom completely, and consume all of the tasty content I keep seeing on my dash.

The phrase “poutine tornado” fills me with simultaneous fascination and dread.
Meeee too. He just gave me a giant bag filled with cored and spiral-cut potatoes and told me how long to bake ‘em. The rest remains a mystery.
