Do you do Brotp stories? If so, FitzDaisy undercover + "For someone with a girlfriend, you have terrible game."
Yes, I very much do write brotp stories, and FitzDaisy happens to be one of my favorites to write! Thank you for the prompt! :)
((Also, there’s definitely a bit of Fitzsimmons in there, but the Fitz/Daisy dynamic is the backbone and primary focus of the fic, so I hope that’s still okay))

When Daisy arrived in Coulson’s office, her confusion waswritten plainly on her face as her eyes landed on Fitz, leaning back againstthe desk. “Hey, where’s Simmons?” she asked, glancing around, as though she’dsimply missed her. “I thought you guys had that undercover op tonight?”
“We do,” Fitz answered, crossing his arms over his chest andsighing.
“Simmons is a bit…busy at the moment,” Coulson explaineddelicately, wincing as he tried to tiptoe around the truth.
“Doing what?” Daisy asked, arching an eyebrow as she glancedbetween the two men.
Fitz made a face, then admitted bluntly, “Vomiting.” WhenDaisy’s eyes grew wide, he elaborated, “She caught some kind of twenty-fourhour bug; y’know, coughing, sneezing, puking – the works. So…no ops for heruntil she’s able to go a full twenty minutes without losing her lunch.”
Understanding dawned on Daisy’s face then. “Oh, so I’m her replacement, then?”
“That’s the idea, yes,” Coulson answered with a nod, passingher the file on the op.
As Daisy began to scan through it, she let out a peel oflaughter, lifting her head to stare at Fitz in delighted surprise. “‘Mr. andMrs. Wilson’? Does that mean we’ll be undercover as a married couple?”
“Well, technically, it’s Dr.and Dr. Wilson,” Fitz corrected, rubbing a hand over the back as his neckas he finished reluctantly, “but…yes.”
“Oh sweet, I getto be a doctor!” Daisy continued to flick through the file, tossing Fitz a mischievoussmirk as she promised, “And don’t worry, I’ll go easy on you this time – don’twant you losing your cool like you did on the train.”
“Now, I resent that,” Fitz started with a huff, planting hishands on his hips, “I simply was not prepared, that’s all. You took me by surprise. But I promise you, I can take anything youdish out, no need to go easy on me; I’ve gotten much more experience sincethen.” When Daisy arched a suggestive eyebrow at him, he hastily tacked on, “Beingundercover.”
Coulson glanced between the two of them, his lips pressedtogether to no doubt hide the smile of amusement he couldn’t quite keep from showingin his eyes. “Do you think you can handle it, then?”
“Absolutely,” Daisy assured him with a smile and a nod. “Youcan count on me and the hubby.”
“Save it for the op, will you?” Fitz requested with a wearysigh.
“That’s what you’re always saying; don’t you love meanymore?” Daisy didn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon, her dramatic toneindicative of just how much fun she was already having.
“I mean it, Daisy.”
“Fine.”

As they pulled up outside the extravagant hotel where thevery high profile benefit was being held, rich business people ready to investin all the newest in science and technology, Daisy let out a low whistle. “Niceplace,” she commented, barely remembering to wait for Fitz to hurry around theback of the car and help her out. Turning to Fitz, she grinned widely andasked, “You ready?”
“I suppose so,” he answered, straightening his tie andsmoothing his shirt. “Let’s just get this over with, yeah?”
“You really know how to romance a girl, don’t you, Fitz?”she teased. The moment they stepped through the glass front doors, she latchedonto his arm, cozying up to him and saying just a bit too loudly, “Oh honey, thank you so much for bringing mehere tonight. Not only do I get to see you all dressed up and looking sohandsome I’m weak in the knees, but it gives me a chance to dress up for once. You’re too sweet.”
Fitz had known she’dprobably end up laying it on thick to prove some kind of point, but he hadn’texpected so much so soon and unfortunately, he found himself quite flustered byit – again, damn it. “Well you…um…youlook…” He trailed off, and tilted his head down to find Daisy watching himimpatiently. Out of the corner of his eye, he also noticed some of the otherpeople milling around in the lobby beginning to glance over curiously. Finally,he just blurted out, “Fine. You look…fine.”
Daisy then treated him to the most exaggerated eye-roll he’dever seen – which was really saying something after spending over a decadefinding himself on the business end of Jemma Simmons’s epic eye-rolls. “Thanks, honey,” she said pointedly, using hergrip on his arm to drag him away before anyone nearby started to growsuspicious. As they entered into the vast, opulent ballroom, Fitz could feelhis cheeks warming with an embarrassed blush. “You know,” Daisy leaned in tohiss at him, “for someone with a girlfriend, you have terrible game.”
Clearing his throat and shifting a bit to give himself timeto regain his bearings, Fitz then scoffed and asked her, “Do you really think Iflirted my way into a relationship withJemma?”
Her slightly irritated expression cleared up then as she letout a little chuckle. “Okay, you’re right – I’d say you definitely stumbledyour way into that relationship. And,of course, Jemma did most of the steering.”
Grimacing, Fitz folded his arms over his chest and muttered,“That’s enough about that, thank you.”
“No, wait, I’m not done yet,” she insisted, recapturing hisattention. “I’ve actually been waiting to get you alone.”
He held up a hand, stopping her there as he said sternly, “Ifyou’re about to make a joke implying that you’ve been waiting this long to getinto my pants, I’m walking away right now, Daisy.”
However, she quickly shook her head, reaching out to grabhis arm, as though to make sure he wouldn’t follow through on his threat. “No,I’m serious! I haven’t been able to find the opportunity to ask you why youhaven’t done it yet.”
Throwing a skeptical look at her, Fitz asked warily forclarification. “It?”
“You know,” she raised her eyebrows pointedly, “that thing Ihelped you pick out months ago now?”
Recognition finally dawned, and he shuffled awkwardly and avoidedher gaze as he replied lowly, “I’m getting to it, alright?” He could tell shewas about to say something more on the subject, but thankfully, at that momenthe laid eyes on their target, hovering near the bar. “It’s Cross!”
Dr. Curtis Cross was said target, a young genius who wassuspected of selling valuable and incredibly dangerous information tocriminals. He’d been on SHIELD’s radar for some time now, and that night wasthe first time they’d found a window to make a move on him. Coulson had madesure to stress the importance of this op succeeding to them both before they’dleft the base.
“Let’s go,” Daisy said, focused right back on the mission asshe hooked her arm through Fitz’s once more. As they headed in Cross’sdirection, she was practically hanging off of his arm, giggling at his jokesand keeping her eyes locked on his, making it seem as though she was utterlydistracted by him.
When they brushed past Cross, however, Daisy ‘accidentally’bumped into him, planting the tracker Fitz had designed that would automaticallybegin recording all of his digital endeavors from the moment it had beenplanted. “Hey!” he yelped, his drink sloshing in his glass as he was jostled.
“I’m so sorry!” Daisy cried, batting her eyes innocently upat him. “I was just so caught up in my pumpkin pie, I wasn’t looking where Iwas going!”
“Pumpkin pie?”Fitz repeated in a grumble, barely able to stop himself from rolling his eyes. However,he couldn’t quite do the same for the grunt he gave when Daisy elbowed himsharply in the ribs for the comment.
“That’s…alright,” Cross muttered, barely sparing themanother glance before he strode off, disappearing into the crowd.
Daisy turned back to Fitz, removing her phone from her clutchand glancing down at the information she was already getting from the tracker. “Andnow we wait,” she said.
“And now we wait,” Fitz repeated, nodding in agreement.
Making sure to stick to the fringes of the party, Fitz andDaisy made a bit of small talk with a couple of other attendees, trying toblend in as much as possible while Daisy kept a sharp eye on her phone. Findingthemselves with a moment alone, though, she abruptly asked out of the blue, “Areyou scared?”
Bewildered, Fitz turned to her and answered dryly, “Afterending up stranded at the bottom of the ocean and forced through a portal to analien planet, I’d have to say that this is op is quite low on the ‘scary’ scale,so no, I’m rather fine thank you.”
Daisy leveled him with an impatient look. “No, Fitz, not about this op; about thatthing we were talking about earlier.” He understood exactly what she wasgetting at, but he wasn’t any more interested in discussing it now than he hadbeen earlier, so he stayed silent. “You have no reason to be scared, Fitz,” shetold him gently, “I know everything will work out.”
Releasing a heavy sigh, Fitz dragged a hand through his hairand finally admitted, “That’s not it, okay? I already know what’ll happen, but…Ijust want it to be perfect. After everything else that’s been ruined andtwisted for us…I won’t let this be as well.”
They both were distracted then when Daisy’s phone gave alittle beep, an alert popping upindicating that the target was downloading a rather sizable, questionable fileat that moment. Without a word, they hurried off toward his position, asindicated by the tracker, though still making sure to seem perfectly normal andcasual as they crossed the ballroom.
The tracking system led them to a hotel room on the fourthfloor, and as they lingered outside the door, Fitz could hear voices on theother side, Cross conversing with someone else. He couldn’t hear more thansnippets here and there, but it was enough to be able to tell that there wasdefinitely a deal going on in there.
Daisy was focused on her phone, using the camera built intothe tracker to take some snapshots of the second man, and she whispered to him,“Fitz, I think it’s Pittman.”
Fitz raised a concerned eyebrow, peering over Daisy’sshoulder at the screen. Jacob Pittman was a weapons dealer who had also been ontheir radar, though he was rather new in comparison to Cross; he was consideredespecially dangerous, however, due to his special interest in alien tech. “Thatcan’t be a good combination.”
Suddenly, Daisy’s head rose and she asked tightly, “Do youhear that?”
“Hear what?” He frowned, straining his ears to try and findwhatever it was she was talking about.
“Footsteps!” Shegrasped his hand, yanking him along behind her as she darted down the hall,all-but leaping into a storage closet and hastily pulling the door shut behindthem. Not a moment later, the sound of a door opening could be heard down thehall, followed by muffled voices.
“That was a close one,” Fitz commented in an undertone, releasing a relieved breath as he sagged back against the wall behind him.
Daisy was quiet for a beat as the conversation in the hallcontinued, but then she whispered unexpectedly, “I get that you don’t want toruin this too, but I just don’t see that happening, Fitz. It doesn’t need to beabsolutely perfect; you just need to take a leap of faith and go for it. Anywaythat it happens will be perfect in its own way, alright?”
Already quite tired of the conversation he never wanted to havein the first place, Fitz only offered a weary sigh in response, leading the waycautiously out of the closet once the voices had faded, then disappearedcompletely.
They stayed for the rest of the benefit, but Cross didn’t domuch else, and left as soon as the party was over – however, the informationthey’d already gotten on him was enough. As they climbed into the car Mack hadhad idling outside and waiting on them, Daisy commented, “I’m no doubt going tohave to spend the rest of my night going through that file Cross’s trackercopied.”
“Well, at least we’ve finally got something on him,” Mackreplied optimistically from the front seat. “It’s about damn time.”
“Amen,” Daisy agreed, nodding and leaning back against herseat, turning to face Fitz beside her. “What about you, Fitz? Got any plans forthe rest of the night?”
Fitz pursed his lips, absently tapping his fingertipsagainst his thigh as he admitted, “I’ve got something in mind, yeah.”
-
Gently, Fitz knocked on the door before pushing it open, entering the bunk he shared with Jemma. “How are you feeling?” he askedsympathetically as he closed the door behind him, eyeing Jemma where she laybundled up in the blankets, looking pale, sweaty, and tired.
“Don’t even ask me that,” Jemma moaned, her voice rough andscratchy from the near-constant coughing and vomiting. “How did it go tonight?”
“We think we’ve got him,” he answered, glad to give her atleast some good news.
She smiled in relief. “Oh Fitz, that’s wonderful. I’m stillsorry I couldn’t be of any help like this, though.”
“It’s alright, Daisy and I had it, and you needed to rest.”Stepping away from the door, he walked around to her side of the bed, reachingout for her hand lying on top of the covers.
However, Jemma hastily retracted it, giving him a wide-eyed,concerned look. “No! I don’t want you to get sick too!”
Fitz smiled softly as he told her, “I think I can brave it.”When he tried once more, she allowed him to take his hand in hers, and he idlystroked his thumb over her clammy skin.
“Fitz…what are you doing?” she asked confusedly, furrowingher brow.
Taking a deep breath, he began to explain, “I’ve been soconcerned with the moment being absolutely perfect, that I’d lost sight of whatwas truly important, and that’s us and our love, our future.” Jemma seemed tounderstand then what was happening, her eyebrows rising in disbelief. But,before she could get a word in, Fitz was down on one knee and holding out thering box he’d had since he’d taken Daisy ring shopping with him months ago. “JemmaAnne Simmons, will you marry me?”
She stared blankly at him for a beat, then let out anincredulous little laugh (which became a bit more of a cough halfway through). “Ican’t believe you’re asking me to marry you after I’ve spent the past twelvehours vomiting.”
“In sickness and in health,” he reminded her with a smileand a slight shrug.
Jemma rolled her eyes, even as she was grinning, and finallyanswered, “Yes, Fitz. Of course it’sa yes.”
Grinning, Fitz removed the ring from the box, carefullysliding it onto her finger before rising to kiss her, even though shehalf-heartedly tried to stop him from getting more of her sick germs.
When they parted, she lovingly palmed his cheek and said, “Ifit’s really ‘in sickness and in health’, then you get up here and lay with me;I’m sick and I’ve had to go all day without my favorite pillow.”
“Not even married yet and you’re already making demands,”Fitz teased, already kicking off his shoes and climbing under the blankets to scootright up beside her.
“What’re you talking about? I’ve been demanding since wemet,” Jemma mumbled, seemingly more concerned with cuddling up to Fitz, restingher head on his shoulder and sighing contentedly.
“And I wouldn’t have you any other way,” he murmuredlovingly, dropping a kiss on the top of her head.
It wasn’t long before Jemma had fallen asleep, her shouldersrising and falling rhythmically as Fitz absently played with the ring nowsitting on her finger, a big, stupid grin seeming to be permanently stamped onhis face.
However, when his phone went off and he scanned the text he’dreceived, the grin faded as confusion set in.
From: DaisyPerhaps you do have some game after all…
“What the…hell?”Fitz muttered to himself, wondering what Daisy could possibly mean by that. What could’ve possibly prompted her to say that in the mere hour that hadpassed since they’d gone their separate ways?
Then, it occurred to him – the proposal! But…how could she…?
Gasping, he glanced down, and sure enough, found his ownminiscule tracker attached to the collar of his shirt.
“Seriously, Daisy?”he hissed as he removed the tracker, pointedly turning it off before carefullysetting it aside on the bedside table, all the while taking care not to jostleJemma. Moments later, he received another text.
From: DaisySorry!! But I wanted to see if you’d actually go through with it –congratulations!!!! I’m so happy for you guys – and for me, because I totallywon fifty bucks off of Mack because he bet you wouldn’t propose for anothermonth and a half… But I’m mostly happy for you two!!
Fitz rolled his eyes, even as a fond smile ticked up thecorners of his lips. Of course, heshould’ve known, really. But, he couldn’t find it in himself to be upset, notwhen he was lying in bed with Jemma Simmons, his fiancée, his soon-to-be wife.
So, instead, he texted her back a short, simple message.
Here you are lovely!! I’m kind of really proud of this one so I hope you like it! 💛
Daisy had always been pretty good at handling stressful situations. She tended to keep a cool head during times of uncertainty and had gotten relatively good at balancing out the mood with a bit of light humor. Plus, being an agent of SHIELD was more than a crash course in preparing a person for high stress situations. Yet, here she was, standing in front of a standing mirror staring at her reflection more nervous than she had ever been in her life.
Just as she was internalizing every little detail of her hair and makeup, there was a knock on the door behind her.
“Come in,” she called, staring at the door through the looking glass.
The door opened to reveal Fitz, clad in a well-fitting suit and a light moss-colored tie all the groomsmen were wearing. She thought that the color went with Daniel’s eyes.
“Hey, Jemma told me to come back here and check how you were doing,” he said, giving her a shy smile.
She grinned at him in the mirror before spinning around to face him fully. “Did she really tell you to come check on me?”
A blush bloomed on his cheeks and a little half smile pulled one corner of his mouth higher than the other.
“So, she didn’t have to tell me. Coulson’s entertaining Alya and May refuses to give up her turn holding the wee one.”
The pride on his face was evident and not even the beard stubbling his cheeks could hide the happy glow to radiating about him. He had grown out the stubble a bit more since Maisie--his and Jemma’s youngest child--was born. Fatherhood suited him, Daisy thought as she took in his smile. With his wife and their two little girls, he seemed more at peace than she had seen him in years.
They all were more at peace than they had been in years.
“May better give me a turn with that baby,” Daisy huffed, “it is my wedding after all.”
He laughed with the same air as taking a breath. Goodness she had missed hearing her friends--her brother--laugh like that. “I will make sure she has some time with her Aunty Daisy, don’t you worry.” Fitz scuffed his shoes on the carpet for a moment, putting his hands in his pockets. “You look beautiful, Daisy,” he said.
She spun in a circle, the billowy cream fabric of her dress floating about her. “You like the dress?” she teased.
“Think it’s alright,” he replied.
Having made a full rotation, Daisy stopped to look at him completely. The butterflies in her stomach were swarming all about her insides and she was finding it a bit hard to breathe. She was about to get married to a man she loved in front of all her friends--no, her family. Knowing her expressions as a brother knew a sister’s, Fitz crossed the few steps that separated them and wrapped her in a hug.
“It’s going to be great,” he said, lifting his head up from her shoulder to speak.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
She tightened her hold on him. “Fatherhood’s made you soft,” she teased, though the teasing factor was sort of undercut by the tears falling from her eyes on to his suit.
