Good news for those that try to get a hand on a current NEEDLE and can’t since it seems to be gone everywhere: as much as we were thinking back and forth, we could not find a single detail to improve - so we just changed the colourway slightly, and keep everything else exactly like it is. As the NEEDLE first leapt of the drawing board and into battle on the fixed-gear racing scene back in 2015 is was continuously being tweaked and adjusted a little since then, the bike and its concept has become something of a benchmark, from its launch more specific geometries from other brands popped up here and there - possibly a milestone, the sport itself turned to a serious event of pure performance with having all gear optimised - it felt there was no need anymore to race on a conventional trackbike, the gear drew level with the seriousness of the events. For us opting for steel over aluminium or carbon was always the starting point: with race surfaces being far from ‘butter’ smooth the importance to remain in contact with the ground is paramount in holding a line through the tight corners. The inherent ‘give’ of steel can be engineered and controlled in the frame design to help absorb the bumps keeping the rider in full control. A higher BB gives the NEEDLE the additional ability to corner lower, the Columbus Cromor double-butted front triangle is used for its lightweight yet durable properties, ideal when crashes are common.
