Now you see it, now you don't! I don't think this hat's owner was expecting quite my level of enthusiasm when he asked me to fix it up. It had an unraveling seam (not pictured), which was an easy fix, but the hole was what I was really interested in tackling. First step was to lightly tack down the loose yarn ends with a felting needle. Then I tried a knitted-on patch, but it was way too bulky and awkward. I'll have to practice more. Looking at the loss more closely, though, there weren't a lot of stitches missing, it was just a bit stretched. So, simplest possible solution: just sew it up with a tiny bit of (nearly) matching wool. I think it was a succes. All told, less than an hour's work to fix up someone's favorite hat. The hat was handmade to begin with, so it was really a pleasure and (is it too pretentious to say?) an honor getting to add my own work to it. #mending #fixingahole #makethriftmend #makedoandmend #lovedclotheslast #repairdontreplace #darning https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq7V2gjheVS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=p47z6qtuanyj
