POV: The Tin-Man looking at the self-proclaimed brainless Scarecrow when asking him what his vendetta against the Witch is
i genuinely cant tell if I like tincrow/fiyerboq/foq for the sheer gloriousness of their ship or if I'm just in love with fiyero and projecting onto boq because 1) broke 2) terrible amazing sense in sweater fashion 3) having 0 way to articulate true emotions and just totally fumbling a relationship out of guilt and not wanting to hurt the other person once its in too deep and 4) the trans-ification of being turned into a Monster TM and being pissed about being in the wrong body through no fault of your own
What do you think Fiyero’s villain arc would look like? (Also I like Lydia the bard’s Disney Princess villain songs if you want some inspiration)
Okay so I didn't have a chance to check out Lydia the Bard because I was busy and then I was like hnnnnng gotta write the fanfiction and then I was like wait it's taking me too long to respond... so here I am
anyway
I think his villain arc would 1000000000% result from Elphaba actually dying, especially if it was because Boq got to her first with the axe before he could get Dorothy out of the trap door to "melt" her. Because he would realize he wasn't fast enough, wasn't smart enough, wasn't convincing enough to beat Boq or make Boq stop. And now his love is chopped into bits because she thought this was part of the plan and she trusted him until the literal end.
And so he'd lumber sadly back to Emerald City, where he sees the Wizard leaving and whether he sees the Flying Monkeys take Morrible away or if Chistery told him, it doesn't matter- but he now knows Glinda is in power, and I imagine she gave the same speech about be going (or altered versions of it) everywhere, and he'd eventually hear. So maybe, out of guilt for how he ended things with Glinda, he goes to her and reconciled. It goes well for a while. They both help make Oz a better place, a place Elphaba would have wanted. Until Glinda lets it slip that she told Morrible how to kidnap Elphaba, which is what led to Nessa's death and Fiyero's "death." And he looks like this:
And I don't think he'd, like, kill Glinda or anything. But oh boy. Between realizing that Glinda snitched out Nessa because of his decision to leave her on their wedding night (even though he was forced into it) and not being quick enough to stop Boq from chopping Elphaba up- you can see how quickly his mental state would drop. He'd believe he's responsible for Elphaba's death.
I think he would suspend Boq (assuming he rusts just the same as in TWOO) into a pool forever, and... yeah, I don't really know about Glinda. I don't think, even in a villain arc he would kill her, but for the sake of a villain arc, he would certainly do something. And he'd take rule over Emerald City, but between being a Scarecrow (aka not having any of the things that he thought made him lovable, and without Elphaba there to convince him otherwise he still believes it) and immortal, meaning he would watch Feldspur, Glinda, his family, etc. die of old age, he would slowly descend into madness and be... not a great ruler. Of course, this would make him feel Guilty TM because he knows this isn't what Elphaba would want, but that just sends him deeper and deeper into the spiral of thinking about how much of a monster he is and thus being a bad ruler.
I also think that, at some point, he would have extracted some form of revenge against everyone who spewed anti-Elphaba propaganda, such as the Munchkin who claimed that her soul was so unclean pure water could melt her. Probably a lot of drowning and water boarding, actually, for "poetic justice."
Many thoughts, this would make a highly intriguing AU, and somewhat mirror book Elphaba, since from what I've heard (grain of salt and all that) Fiyero's death drove her to such madness that she couldn't remember her own sons birth and deluded herself into believing that the Scarecrow was him (it wasn't). So. Many mirrors.
