“you dug my heart a grave. i watched you illustrate the expression of another lonely girl. and there you lie awake, and wish you knew a way to fade the blaring silence from your only world. and now you’re running to the sound of the light.”

summary: 6 years ago today, claire and i first started rping fizz and pace, 6 years of these two being the slowest burn relationship. so in honor of their rpiversary, have this chatzy.
Fizz and Pace had been traveling for a few months now, and Fizz didn't like to admit it because she was so adamant about not doing it before, but she was actually having a lot of fun. The best part was that she was with Pace and over the course of the last few months, she had somehow gotten closer to him than before. She didn't think that was possible considering their closeness beforehand. She was laying in bed next to Pace, crossword on her iPad in her lap, coffee on the nightstand. It was the middle of the day, they were just having a chill day, Fizz did some work while Pace napped. "What's a four-letter word for a word of understanding?" she asked Pace, tilting her head to look at him when she heard him stir awake.
Pascal was glad that they had gotten to a point where Fizz seemed to be handling the traveling well. He had been there to ease her mind and the fact that things had been calm had definitely helped with this state of being they found themselves in. He felt closer to her than ever before, and had been contemplating their future together a lot as of lately. He'd even thought about her while he'd been out in the water earlier, and Pascal had managed to wear himself out. He somehow managed to convince Fizz to be near him while he had a nap as well. He eventually awoke on his side, facing her, and immediately reached for her, sliding his hand over her frame to wrap his arm around her despite the game she was playing on her iPad. "Umm," He smiled softly, and sleepily, up at her as he thought of a word to give her for the crossword. "Learn...? Wait, that's too many letters," He said. "How about 'know'?" Pas answered.
Fizz leaned more into Pace when he wrapped his arm around her, fixing herself so she was comfortable. Being in Pace's arms was calming, and she liked when they were together, she always had. It felt like her nightmares too seemed to ease knowing he was right there next to her, and she often searched for him when spooked or paranoid about monsters. "Mmm," Fizz responded. "No, can't be that, the third letter is 'e'. Uh, it gives the clues of a synonym for 'gotcha' or 'uh huh'. Fizz gave him a light kiss. "How was your nap? You alright?" she asked, knowing he seemed worn out after coming back in from the beach.
Having her underneath his touch was so pleasant, and he felt lucky to have her so close. "Uh, oh gods. You know I'm usually no good at these," He reminded Fizz after receiving her quick kiss, which left a lazy, happy, little smile on his face. He wanted to keep making memories with her, because he couldn't imagine life without her in the sense that it seemed like Fizz had always been there. Not always like this, being so intimately close in bed together but, when he thought about his future, he always factored her presence in. He slightly nodded in response. "Yeah, I'm good now." He said. "The waves were gnarly out there today, you should've seen 'em." He explained and then worried about her for a moment. "But, sorry, you weren't too bored while I was out were you?" Pascal then asked.
Fizz let out a small laugh at his comments about the crossword, she’d figure it out sooner or later. Fizz shook her head, “Oh no, I was fine. I like when you go surfing, you get kind of happy about it. It’s nice to see you like that. You don’t have to worry about me. I facetimed Ruby when you were out so that I could talk to them about some routines while they’re covering the ballet classes at the studio.”
Pascal felt that his passions were supported by his girlfriend and that fact was very important to him. "I hope my mom didn't bug you too much while I was out there either." He knew his mom could come off as overbearing and eccentric at times, but he was happy that Fizz seemed to get the stamp of approval. His mom could see how happy Fizz made him, and the fact these two women in his life finally got the chance to meet made him even happier. Pascal felt very emotionally comfortable right where he was and, while out surfing, he'd contemplated the concept of marrying Fizz. That specific thought trickled back into his brain, but he kept quiet on it except for a chuckle when he heard what she had done while he was gone. "Oh, so, you can take the girl out of the dance class, but you can't take the dance class out of the girl, huh?" Pascal easily teased her while also playfully squeezing her waist.
“No, no, your Mum is amazing,” she replied with a smile of reassurance at him. Fizz let out a loud laugh at Pascal’s joke. “You can never take the dance class out of me,” she replied. “Sorry, not sorry. Ballet is just too ingrained in me.” Fizz turned over, sitting on top of Pace’s lap as she looked at him. “Besides, we’ve been doing some dancing ourselves lately,” she joked.
Hearing her laugh was so nice to hear, especially when he was the reason. He turned onto his back when Fizz began to move and let her climb on top of him. Happy that the crossword was pushed aside, he kept looking up at her. "Yes, we have, haven't we?" He chuckled; slightly embarrassed and yet proud at the same time. "I really like getting to dance with you." He smirked as he teased some more. Pascal then moved his hand and tucked some of her hair away from her face. Her beauty made his heart clench. He felt sentimental and tried to fight it, but he wouldn't be true to himself if he stayed quiet on these feelings. "—I'm very thankful for you." He then added about his surmounting feelings about needing her around, but tried to play it off like he might've been simply talking about them being so intimate as of late.
"Very thankful for me?" she repeated back to him. "You know that Thanksgiving was last month, right?" She let out a small laugh. "Are you okay? You sound very formal." She gave him a soft kiss, running hands through his curls. "A simple I love you would do, y'know."
Pascal felt slightly embarrassed by being called out by the girl who sat atop him, but he wouldn't have it any other way. Especially when she kissed him, her teasing was almost forgotten about. He kissed her back, smiling against her lips, barely able to pull away because he didn't want to. "—I love you," He chuckled out a content little reply and, no matter how much he wanted to keep kissing her and rolling around in the sheets, his thoughts were still stuck on how important Fizz was to him. "I sounded formal, yeah, I know, but that's how I feel..." His hands rubbed up and down her legs that straddled him as he tried to find more of a response. "I would be so bored without you, and I'm not just talking about getting to do this kind of stuff with you now." Pascal squeezed where his hands lay. "I mean it— I don't ever want to lose you." He told her.
Fizz tilted her head slightly at him, and she leaned back a little so she was more upright. “I don’t ever want to lose you either,” she replied. The blonde put her hands on top is his on her legs. “You’re starting to scare me a little though,” she said. This sounded like it was headed toward some weird break up and Fizz was not ready for that. Fizz never wanted that.
Pascal didn't mean to scare her or make her feel insecure, in fact, his goal was quite the opposite, but he had no problem with soothing her worries. "Noo, you don't have to be scared," He told her, and, with his hands under her own, he slipped one of them out and scooped up the hand that had been on top of his. "You don't ever have to be scared when we're together, okay? You've been in my life for so long," He held it so he could bring her hand up to his lips. He pressed a kiss to the top of her hand and kept holding it as he gazed back up at her. "...What if we happen to stay together forever?" Pascal then asked and, although it sounded like he was only talking in hypotheticals, it felt very real to him.
Felicity intertwined their fingers more, squeezing his hand a little, small smile still upon her face. "Uh, that's kind of the plan I was hoping. I mean, you've dealt with me for what? Over a decade now? There's no way you're getting rid of me at this point. What is this all about?" she asked, curious now. She couldn't get rid of the butterflies in her stomach that came with each and every one of his words.
Hearing Fizz mirror his wants for their future was enough to give him the fuel to proceed with what he really wanted to ask. "Um, well," It made Pas feel like there was a whirlpool inside his chest as he was nervous to share such big feelings, but the idea that had formed in his mind was too real to ignore. "I was thinking, and..." Even being out surfing earlier, he wished that Fizz was with him. There was no denying how much they'd fallen for one another over the years and, even before they had been together like this, he could truly see him spending the rest of his life with her. "...Would you want to marry me?" Pascal proposed and, realized that it didn't sound like it did in the movies. "—I mean," He paused and was all smiles as he gazed up at her. "Will you marry me, Fizz?" He proposed again as he squeezed her hand and, honestly, he wouldn't have it any other way.
Unable to control her nerves, Fizz buried her face in his chest, letting out a fit of giggles. "Oh my Gods, Dude I thought you were going to break up with me or something," she said. She lifted her head, kissing him passionately, her hands cupping his cheeks. "Yes, yes, I will, of course I will," she confirmed, before kissing him again, a bright smile on her face. She was silent for a moment, her face close to his when she broke from the kiss. "What if... we just go do it right now?" she suggested with a guilty smile. Fizz was never one to drag out any engagement or have a big party, she liked it intimate, and they could just get married right now without any big todo.
Hearing her giggles made him chime in with his own laughter as well, but they were quickly interrupted with the kisses that she gave him. His arms immediately wrapped around her frame and hugged her close when he processed that she had agreed to marry him. When she pulled away, a grin was left on his own lips, and hearing her question, he was left in a sort of daze where he'd agree to almost anything Fizz suggested in that moment. "—Yeah?" He asked but then quickly nodded; understanding exactly where she was coming from. "Yeah," He agreed. Getting married right then sure would take a lot of the boring and more tedious aspects out of it all. "You don't know how happy you've made me." He expressed. "I think we should do it while we're here, we could even do it on the beach. And, you've already met my mom, and she loves you, so there's that too."
"Yeah," she confirmed. "I mean, unless you want a big thing, but it would be nice, it just be you and me on the beach. Intimate." Her hands wrapping within his again. "There's nothing really holding us back. I also hate to be weird, but with a demigod life expectancy, it says we shouldn't probably have made it this far in life, but we did. That and we spent a long time pretending we were just friends, at least I know I did. I don't want to waste any more time, honestly."
"Mhm, I like how that sounds," He nodded his head against the pillow as he held her hands again. "I'm definitely okay with something intimate." He assured her and felt his cheeks go warm at the fact that he felt like she was calling them out for hiding their feelings for so long. "I'm glad we're not pretending anymore," He told her and, having her on top of him with all this energy made him feel antsy so he picked her up and rolled over so he now was hovering over her. He felt so good to finally be here in this part of his life and smiled down at her. "All I need is you, Fizz." Pas said and then leaned down to kiss her again.
"Afterward I can just tell Alec and Ime, and they'll easily get it around, we won't have to do anything," Fizz replied with a light laugh, only half-joking. "Me too, man were we so dumb to think we were just friends. All I need is you too, Cal. To married life we go then, I guess."
Pascal figured the news would circulate through camp soon enough especially after telling Alec or Ime. He chuckled and was proud that he'd asked Fizz to marry him and was even more proud that she had said yes. "Zoe's probably going to be a little upset she didn't get to be here for it, but, everyone will just have to understand." He was grinning again and then more happy laughter bubbled out. "—Yeah, time for you to be my wife." He said and kissed her forehead before pulling himself off of her and stood by the edge of the bed where he extended a hand out to her as well.
"Maybe you should tell your siblings when I message my siblings, just so they don't hear it from some random person in New Athens." Felicity grabbed his hand, pulling herself up. "And time for you to be my husband."

Pascal had been so happy; riding on cloud nine ever since Felicity had agreed to marry him. His mother's house being so close by the waterfront was ideal for their plans to have their moment together on the beach. The two of them, with the help of Pace's mother, had gathered what they needed to proceed with this very intimate elopement. Pascal's mother was obviously elated and very supportive. Not having access to rings as quickly as they needed, the option of a handfasting ceremony was decided on— while they also planned to get rings in the near future; preferably before they returned to New Athens as well. But, this is what they lovingly wanted to do. With his mother as their officiant, the ceremony would be binding. And, Pascal's nerves bubbled up along with his excitement. As he stood in the sand, wearing a handmade lei around his neck, he waited for Fizz to emerge down the path and come to where he stood; waiting to get married to her. Pascal tried not to play with his fingers as he thought about what he was planning on saying during their vows. His heart jumped in his chest when he thought he saw Fizz about to make her appearance.
With her own lei that Pace's mother helped her make around her neck, Fizz fixed her hair slightly. Her mind was running a mile a minute, figuring out what to say to Pascal herself. Fizz moved a piece of hair from her face and started her way down the path. She smiled when she could finally see Pace. She was wearing a knee length casual white dress, something Pace's mother picked out as they got things ready. She smiled at Pace as she neared more before stopping just a couple feet from him, putting her hands in his. "Hi," she said.
He had tried to manage to make his unruly curls appear more put-together in the salty air but, since he had let his hair grow out so much since they've been on vacation, he could only hope it didn't appear too messy. Seeing Felicity make her appearance down the path, he held his breath while his heart beat wildly. He smiled back at her and thought she looked wonderful, in white as well. He was relieved when he had the pleasure of feeling Fizz's hands take and hold onto his own. "Hey," He greeted her back and couldn't pull his eyes away. Now that everyone who was required to be there was in their appropriate spots, the ceremony could proceed with ease. The time had come to this— what they both should have realized a long time ago it would have come to this intimate moment. And, when the attention was shifted to Fizz so she could recite her vows first, Pascal couldn't help but slightly squeeze her hands that they'd still been holding onto.
Fizz was so nervous, yet not at the same time. It was a strange feeling and very intimate. Her heart did a flutter when she was told to say her vows. “Gods, okay,” she started letting out a small laugh, “I’m not very good at this cheesy, lovey stuff, but I know one thing very well, is that I’m completely in love with you, Pascal. You are my best friend, and I don’t believe there was ever a time that I didn’t love you, even from that first quest that we went on, even when we would tell everyone we were just friends. I loved you before I even knew that I loved you. You saved me, literally and metaphorically. You were my family when I had none, you were always the most important person to me. I’m ready to spend the rest of our lives together, because I will never stop loving you.”
Pascal remained standing in his spot and remained lovingly gazing upon Fizz as she recited her vows. When she was done, Pascal was then urged to start his. "Fizz," He cleared his throat and began. "I would be so lost without you. I have spent so much time thinking about you, worrying about you, and wanting the best for you that I couldn't imagine it any other way." He expressed. "Having you nearby is normal to me," He said. "And, I look forward to getting to be able to wake up to you, and I also look forward to facing everything we have yet to face, together, because I know we can always get through anything with the help of one another." He was smiling. "I don't want to experience any of the good moments without you, and, there's nobody else I would rather face a bunch of monsters with than with you." Pascal rubbed his thumb against her hand. "I feel ten feet tall when I realize that you love me back and I want to spend every day making you feel the same way." He finished and his vows came to an end.
Felicity just wanted to kiss him right then and there, and it was almost torture to not be able to quite yet. When it was time for the hand-fasting, she listened to the instructions given to them. When the knot was ready, all they had to do was step back together and pull it tight. “Ready?” she asked Pace.
Pascal listened as the cord was wrapped around his and Fizz's hands.
"In joining hands, Felicity and Pascal symbolize how they freely offer their lives to one another. And in fastening their hands together, the cord symbolizes how they both leave this place today with lives now bound together..." The individual performing the ceremony expressed. "How after today, an idea of two stories come together and two sets of hopes and desires for the future are joined in commitment and intention. Felicity and Pascal, as I fasten your hands together and tie the knot, I invite you to reflect on the joy and responsibility that awaits you." As the knot was tied, Pascal couldn't help but grin. "You may know and feel and remember always that together in this marriage, you are each deeply known. Now, with great joy, by the authority given to me, I pronounce you husband and wife." They announced. "—You may now kiss the bride."
Overwhelmed with bliss, Pascal moved closer, using his free hand to move to the side of his now wife's face. "I love you." He declared, one more time, before leaning in and pressing his lips passionately against Fizz's.
Fizz pulled on the chords as Pace did so that they came together in a tight knot, joining the blue and gold chords equally. Her smile grew on her face as she waited in anticipation to kiss her now husband. When she heard that they were allowed to kiss, she muttered a small "Finally," before being pulled close. Fizz leaned into the kiss, using her own free hand to do the same as Pascal's. "I love you too."
