I hate Carden’s guts. Admittedly planning on doing a reread of cruel prince/wicked king before release with the mindset of ‘BELIEVE THIS MAN IS OKAY’, but he’s an absolute slag of a bully who gets forgiven because he had a bad childhood. Cool backstory, still abusive dynamic for a romantic relationship!

barring a lot, we’ll need heavy redemption for me to wind up on the side of the very inevitable jude/carden endgame.

However, the funny thing about the anon hate (I haven’t answered all of it because it’s super boring standard) is that like. Yes, I don’t like carden (in terms of carden/jude since Jude deserves better) (I like him as a literary, character, you see). However, yes, I love Cruel Prince trilogy! Like my newly dissed book blog- I read cruel prince in one sitting, got wicked king as an ARC and read it in one sitting, and gave both 5 stars.

I just am super super critical of male love interests in the genre of YA dark fantasy and the standards they set up for acceptable behavior and what is forgiven- see the much worse ACOTAR for super unhealthy dynamics in like, all ships.

5) Who/what inspires you?

captain james t kirk of the uss enterprise To be perfectly honest (and yes, I do get inspired by Star Trek, in case that hasn’t been made abundantly clear), it’s validation from sharing my art. What’s stupid about this isn’t that it’s a part of what drives me as an artist, but the degree to which it does. Like, you know how I’ve posted about my comic, A Simple Feeling? I’ve drawn over 100 pages of comic. Spent a lot of time on it. And last week, almost decided to throw it on the scrap pile because no one had mentioned it recently. How sad is that? (See also why my original webcomic is on temporary hiatus because people are more excited about my ST art, so I’m motivated to work on that more. See also why I keep starting fanfiction and abandoning it halfway through each story.)

I love interacting with people over art, whether it’s mine or someone else’s. And I love sharing that excitement and joy over it (techniques, style, subject matter, Feels, composition, all the above). If I can’t share my art or others’ art, can’t share that excitement with friends, mutuals, or followers, then it seems pretty pointless. Art is here for us to get hyped over! Let’s be excited together!!

12) Any weird artist behavior you admit to doing?

I can only use one marker at a time to ink a drawing. But I will hold a bunch of other markers in my non-dominant hand while I ink with my other. I could just leave them beside me on my table, because they’re still right there, but no. I must hold them. Because what if I need them. I can’t waste time REACHING for markers! I need them already in my grasp!
