learned from this tweet if you wait several minutes into the bon audio you get this (loud)
let them all beat him to death as a fun wedding game
pov you're john winchester and you get what you deserve
okay listen once again i think the only reason bobby “murdered my own abusive father when i was like seven years old” didn’t kill john was because he didn’t want the boys to ever find out and not trust him because he wanted to be able to keep watching out for them, but i DO ALSO think that a few months after john killed bill harvelle, some week when john dropped the boys off at bobby’s and disappeared to god (bobby) knows where, rufus went down to the roadhouse and took ellen aside and slipped her a little piece of paper and whispered “bobby says now’s your chance”
I dont think its untill Dean gets sam from stanford, that Sam starts seeing what deans life was/has really been like. And not so much in the early seasons, but later on for sure. Like “I just never realized how long you've been cleaning up dads messes.” sam really is seeing dean as a person now and not as his brother, the peacekeeper, the one who never stepped out of line.
When Sam is watching Deans memory of Marry in Heaven (s5e16) there is this look on his face, and its like he just realizing how much Dean had to deal with and how much he kept from him, how it didn't all start with the fire, it just got amplified 4000%
Its talked about alot that kids don't really see their parents as people, they see them as their parents. And i think that Sam is starting to see Dean as a person, and not as a parent. Idk i just think we should talk about this more.
Okay you know how in Lebanon Dean had a pearl where he would get his biggest desire? Well, I don't think his biggest desire was to have J/hn back. I think his desire was for him to have a genuine family that got along well enough.
There is no way Sam would not get angry at J/hn for all the hell he gave them. Or, at most, forgive him that easily. I think Dean specifically wanted a world where they had a peaceful enough family with a loving father.
No way J/hn "I've given you an order" Winchester would be apologetic to his sons like that.
No way Sam Winchester (enough said) would greet J/hn in open arms.
No way Dean "I didn't deserve what he put on me" Winchester would want J/hn to be alive again.
Dean wouldn't want that. No. He wanted a father back, just not his father. We got the dad that Dean wanted.
dean’s parallels to john happen because he wants them to happen, sam’s parallels to john happen by chance. john’s tactic of parenting was to make his kids be like him. shape them in his own form! dean accepts it, sam resents it. therefore, every similarity to john is contrived for dean.
