Blake is bitten by a zombie and has to be put down by Vivienne.
“Please, Viv, don’t do this. This isn’t some stranger, it’s me. Please.” Blake pleaded, fighting his body’s instinct to shut down. Pain began to spread through every inch of his skin, a million tiny needles sinking into his flesh. He’d witnessed this before, people he knew, people he cared about and loved, becoming someone, something entirely different, a monster wearing a strategic mask. He’d seen his friends become delirious in moments, his enemies lose their sanity in seconds, his loved ones come undone instantly. Each time, he stood there with his head hung low, incapable of registering the reality of what was occurring before him. It wasn’t real. It wasn’t possible. It was the hallucination of a mad man. And each time, Vivienne had stood beside him, delivering one, lethal blow. Boom. She’d always been better at handling the growing death count than he was. Now, he was the one losing his grasp on his sanity, the one floating away, but he could still see Vivienne clearly, still understand what was about to happen. This time, he could register what was going on. “Vivienne, I’m sorry you have to do this. I wish you didn’t have to. I wish I could be there to comfort you once it’s done, but I can’t, and it sucks. Me dying might actually be worse for you than it is for me.” Blake began to laugh, but quickly stopped, sensing his time was limited. “Take care of yourself for me, okay? I don’t trust any of the other guys, be careful. Don’t do anything I would do, that’ll make you end up in the same predicament. You being able to do this shows you’re one of the good ones. You really are, Viv. If it’s any constellation..” Blake willed himself to continue, as he felt his sane thoughts curdling. “Surviving the zombie apocalypse beside you has been a pleasure, and an honor.” Boom.
