"Flak Bait" B-26 Marauder under restoration
Given the name Flak Bait from Farrell’s family dog’s nickname, Flea Bait, This B-26 lived up to it’s name. Once being shot with over 1,000 holes, returning to base two times with one engine, once with the engine disabled and on fire, lost it’s electrical system once, and hydraulic system twice. Flak-Bait flew a total of 207 missions, aiding in both Normandy and The Battle Of The Bulge.
On March 18, 1946, Flak-Bait was flown one last time to a base In Bavaria where it was disassembled and shipped back to the U.S
Flak-Bait can be seen on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
