Guitarist as a kid dismayed Dale,almost 40 years ago, got a call from Switzerland to my hometown Pico Rivera,Los Angeles asking to work with Flame Dream. One of the last signed major record label progressive rock bands from Lucerne,central Switzerland that formed in 1977. Solo from "Nocturnal Flight" with mellotron,flute with soaring ambient guitar solo by Dale Hauskins. How nifty dignified Dale, to see on instagram a winter wonderland of wax open for business. ___________________________ After all these years to see a record store called Blue Bag Records @bluebagrecords all the way in Cambridge, Massachusetts United States advertising, selling a used 4th album by Swiss progressive rock band from Lucerne central Switzerland (I was part of as a guitarist) called Flame Dream. Auguscht ! _____________________________ As a native Angelino Californian, I was lucky to live some time in Weggis and the oldest built house called Chalet Antique, rehearsing at Hotel Eden(pictured) of guitarist in Flame Dream, one of the last of the major record label progressive rock bands from Lucerne, central Switzerland. Forming in 1977, and released one album on Phillips Records, and five albums Vertigo Phonogram 1978-1986. ___________ Chalet Antique survived a catastrophic landslide in 1795 that happened in Weggis. "Weggis is the charmingest place we have ever lived in for repose and restfulness, superb scenery whose beauty undergoes a perpetual change from one miracle to another, yet never runs short of fresh surprises and new inventions. Here’s recent summer mid July 2019 pristine videos from a small fishing boat, and new photos of my too missed home Chalet Antique, the oldest built house in tiny Swiss village Weggis, Hotel Albana, Flame Dream’s practice spot Art Nouveau Hotel Eden (now classy duplex condos called the Residence Eden). Flame Dream’s singer Peter Wolf hooked up a long extension 230 volt cable near-by 19th century parent’s Hotel Albana over looking Lake Lucerne aka Vierwaldstättersee (Four Forested-Cantons Lake), centrally located panoramic views. The Swiss musicians in Flame Dream were heavily influenced by musicians, bands as Bill Bruford, Genesis, Van Der Graaf Generator, Yes, Sir James Galway, Gentle Giant, Peter Gabriel, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Steve Hackett, Patrick Moraz, classical music. Flame Dream released 1978’s «Calatea» Phillips Records, five albums Vertigo Phonogram 1978-1986, the second best 1979’s «Elements» and incorporating a American guitarist in the line up Dale Hauskins of their notable third 1981’s «Out in the Dark». A excellent example of sophisticated progressive rock, mixed by Genesis’s guitarist Steve Hackett producer the late John Acock.Recorded at Swiss legend keyboardist Patrick Moraz Aquarius Studios Geneva. A Swiss sympho-prog band with some jazzy tendencies with a fantastic classical angle imparted via Roland Ruckstuhl’s Sergei Rachmaninoff-derived keyboard playing. A hoopla 38 year anniversary article for a youngster California guitarist din Dale, touring Italy with Swiss progressive rock band Flame Dream. _________________________ Taken from the Swiss newspaper Giornale Del Popolo in February 16 1981 of the Italian-speaking region in southern Switzerland state,canton Ticino,on picturesque,affluent peerless promenades Mediterranean palm trees of Ascona,city of Locarno by Lake Maggiore (known for Locarno Film Festival) and Lake Lugano with its architecture, cuisine and culture closely related of neighboring country Italy. _____________________ Amazingly,in continental Europe,brilliant,classic progressive rock music was still being produced with little regard for the prevailing winds of disco,new wave and punk. Californian guitarist diary Dale,band rehearsal remembrances practicing in my Swiss progressive rock Flame Dream band days inside a inspiring 1900 Art Nouveau building. _______________ At the time,it was a closed 1900 year looking,old dusty cold the Hotel Eden,(utilizing five propane heaters in the winter to keep our fingers warm to practice for Italian tour,pre-record third album "Out in the Dark".). Hotel Eden is now refurbished into a expensive classy apartment duplex condos called the Residence Eden.
