I think you make a really good point though, I would be sad if I had a selfpublished book (although proud to finally write a complete book, wow), it’s just that ‘it’s ONLY self-published’ will forever be in your mind and it won’t make you feel better

Yes! Although it's not unheard of for self-published books to be picked up by publishers--for instance Angelfall by Susan Ee which has won all sorts of awards. and is my favorite angel story man oh man. The thing is that society is not gonna discriminate between books like that which are great and books published by someone who barely bothered to spellcheck.

Yep! Although I totally get tearing at hair and raging against people the first few days, haha. (x I feel like learning to take criticism well is a lifelong journey--and also people need to actually give you that criticism. :')
