how did the twins get their flames? is it possible to lose ur dying will if u forget (like w ingo), or will it stay despite amnesia?

Dying will flames are inherent to you as a person, so no matter what you have the same flame. I imagine a lot of hard-core trainers are probably capable of producing them. The struggle of knowing if you can usually comes from not having the right materials - the gemstones - to use them. However, I think that at one point, when the boys were working at the subway but before they were in charge of it, there was a big accident and the train was attacked by angry wild pokemon. The two of them had to defend the train as well as try to get help, and it was during that they unlocked their flames.

I think when Ingo got amnesia, he did forget he could use the flames, though in my personal opinion - barring some kind of crazy ‘I took away your bending’ kind of deal - once they’re unlocked, they’re always at the ready. Especially for Warden Ingo, who has things he’d still be willing to die for, that he’d protect with his life if it came to that. So it will stay, but knowing he can use them would go. And then probably one day while defending the sneasle pups he just suddenly has green lightning coming from his weird necklace, and he rolls with it to beat up the attacking garchomp.

No no no, better idea than Emmet not hating Dawn. It’s a comically one sided hatred similar to Yamamoto and Gokudera right up until he shakes Dawn’s hands and bam! Instant Harmonization. Speed run enemies to bffs with Dawn unaware that they’re enemies!

BUT WAIT hear ME out! Comically one-sided and unjustified anger, then he meets Dawn and is like 'in for a penny in for a pound, I'll be her storm guar-' and even while he's trying to haymonize with her, it's just not clicking. Not because they can't harmonize, but because Dawn is 1) not aware of what he's doing and 2) already had a storm guardian (barry) so she's not really on the look for one. Obviously a sky can harmonize with multiple of the same flame but she, like, doesn't have a nagging opening for one.

As a side note, she does have two rain guardians - both Rei and Lucas. Her harmonization with Rei, however, was brought about in a heat-of-the-moment sort of thing that spurred the connections into action.

Do inverted flames exist in the pokemon world? Like, let's say inverted rain. Still a rain, but all sharp and fiesty (think Squalo). Or an inverted storm- those tend to be described as "eye of the storm". I think it would suit Cyllene nicely (if she isn't a cloud).

Also, do people bond here? You know, "every sky needs a set" and all that jazz. Oh! Can elements fall into discord/dissonance if the get cut off from their family? *looks at Ingo who got eebie deebied and Beni & Kamado who had fled their region*

Yeah inverted flames exist, though uhhhh admittedly I have yet to spend much time trying to decide what others are. I'll need to sit down and make a bigger list at some point. Side note: aren't most of the arcobaleno pretty inverted? Despite making this au my khr is pretty rusty lol.

I'm thinking for the Pokemon au, like, every sky naturally sort of ends up trying to collect a full set of the other elements, and they do bond with each other, but it's not a 'one perfect soulmate' kind of deal, and sometimes a sky can kind of have different guardians of one element in rotation or bond to people shorter amounts of time. Dawn's definitely bonded with Barry, Ingo, Rei, and Cynthia at the very least, but she's also bonded with Lucas, and both him and Rei are rain guardians.

I feel ilke discord/dissonance would mostly be brought on by like being forcibly cut off or one member of the bond (usually worse if its the sky half) rejecting the other. So yes? But in most cases it's, like, a bit of anxiety-like feelings that eventually fade with time. Like, Lucas and Barry aren't going insane back at home, but they do have really bad anxiety over Dawn's disappearance. I think Kamado lost some guardians from his original region, and so it still pains him to this day. Being purposefully cut off, well, I could see that spurring someone into doing some really insane. things.

Especially if they'd just recently found a sky, but they're going through with their evil plan, and then suddenly this warm connection is cut off, leaving them cold and desperate for its return. It fuels a desperation, almost against the persons right mind, to try and fill that hole in themselves.

Individual elements (that aren't sky) rarely connect to each other, but I think even if Ingo and Emmet (and Elesa?) were bonded like that, its impossible to tell if the dissonance in flames is brought by that or just Ingo's disappearance.

Or at least, that's what I think. If you have other opinions, feel free to voice them! Again, my KHR is rusty, so maybe I didn't undrestand the question correctly lol

iirc youve given emmet and ingo different flames, isnt that kinda weird? like wouldnt they be expected to have similar flames, or do twins in unova tend to follow the twin dragons…?

Oh lol kind of mentioned stuff about this in the last ask!

Anyway, the idea is that even as twins, they're still different personality-wise. In fact - and I am now deciding this is a fact in this fic - both of the boys have storm AND lightning flames. However, Emmet's personality more lends itself towards storm (I'm stubborn okay I'll probably keep him storm blu3) and Ingo's, at least during/after Hisui, is more towards lightning.

For the KHR PLA AU, how does Emmet feel about Ingo finding a Sky before him? I imagine that when they learned about Flames they swore to each other that they would Harmonize at the same time/share they same Sky.

Considering how rare skies are, I think that tbh, Emmet and Ingo never thought too much about every finding one they'd be able to harmonize with, but they did have a sort of understanding without barely having to talk about it that they would surely find the same sky if that every happened, right?

It becomes this other thing that distances Ingo and Emmet, even when they're eventually reunited. I don't think Emmet hates Dawn by any means, but I do think he kind of hates what she represents, and this connection she has to his brother that he doesn't have. There's a lot of things different about Ingo now, and one of them is the way he'd put his life on the line for this teen, that he has this entire family he's a part of now.

You’ll have to forgive my rambling, if I have one other obsession besides Pokémon it would be KHR/flame theory.

But regarding Volkner and Dawn’s bond you could argue that while it was an instantaneous bond it might not be as strong as someone she purposely Harmonized with. Bonds that are created instantly are similar to snap decisions and thus weaker since no effort was put into it. Clouds are naturally creatures of instinct so Volkner could have subconsciously picked Dawn as his Sky without even realizing it. Which random question, would Ginter be a Cloud as well? Same typings typically run in families (Yamamoto and his Dad, Tsuna and the bosses ect). I wouldn’t be surprised if Dawn unknowingly tried to bond with him because of it (whether he was amused or not is up in the air).

Also, what are your thoughts about the Night Flame?

I think there's probably two ways that guardians - aspects? elements? - are formed between a flame user and sky. The first is in-the-moment adrenaline bond, and the other is 'I-pledge-myself-to-you' kind of bond. I think initially, the adrenaline bond is stronger than just pledged to the person, but then overall and overtime, the 'pledge' is usually stronger for exactly what you're saying - the harmonization between the two is more purposefully focused and created.

OOOOH I LOVE GINTER AS A CLOUD! I bet he gets to talk to Irida about being leaders and yet clouds :) I don't think Dawn ever tries to bond with him on purpose, but I could see it being sort of a subconcious thing, and him just kind of good-natured chuckling because he's a free agent in regards to those things and would like to remain that way. I had a motorcity/khr au years ago, and playing around with the idea of leaders who are not skies is something I really love

Last question if the day, I promise! But wouldn’t Emmet be better suited as Lightning? Each Flame represents a certain trait right?

Sky: Acceptance

Storm: Desire

Rain: Reliability

Sun: Activity

Lightning: Ambition

Cloud: Independence

Mist: Creativity

Not to mention the fact that canonically every Lightning user we saw in the show being borderline obsessed with something/someone. Levi being Xanxus, Lambo with killing Reborn and even Verde with his creations.

From what I read in your other fic (which how the heck did I not read this before now?) Emmet strikes me as a Lightning if only because he wants to find Ingo. Also, he likes winning more than anything else right?

Ingo as an inverted Storm kinda makes sense? He’s be like Fon.

I believe my reasoning for Emmet having storm was never resting, very offensive and in the middle of battle, kind of more matches his energy. And then for Ingo it was that lightning users are the first line of defense, the protection of the family, and that's what he's focused on doing especially in detours (which, hey, hope you enjoyed it :) )

Although, they are brothers, and twin brothers at that, it's not like I'd be hard to say that they both have lightning and storm flames. In fact, I've been playing on and off with the concept that they were both storm before Ingo left, and when he got to Hisui he began to more main lightning.

while i dont think adaman or irida would have sky flames (maybe rain and cloud respctively), what do you think about kamado having sky flames?

I defo don't think Adaman or Irida have sky flames, I think for the clans it almost makes the decision of who's the leader too easy to parse, though you could definitely do something with it. Rain and cloud I think sound really good! Especiay the complications for Irida of naturally being sort of an independent person, but now people are relying on her.

Kamado having sky flames is great! I like the idea of that being one of the reasons he was chosen to the head the Galaxy Team, and that it also made it alost natural for many of the others who agreed to come to also be other flame users, naturally attracted to a sky. And I think it adds to the tension and threat he sees in Dawn. He knows more than anybody the strength and weight a Sky carries, and if she's supposed to be the downfall of the clan, then a sky is perfect for that job.
