ATTENTION TRUE TAIL FANS! The time has finally come! SKYNAMIC STUDIOS, the creative team behind True Tail is currently hiring Character Animators (experienced in Adobe Flash puppet animation) and we are also seeking an experienced Sound Designer. We will be looking at portfolios from now until SATURDAY JANUARY 18th 2014. Send your portfolios to [email protected] and prepare to wow us! If you make it through the screening process, you will be sent a test on January 18th. You can also learn more about True Tail here: www.true-tail.com Our entire crew of 70+ artists is very professional and super talented, but it's important to know that since we're working on a pilot, no one is getting paid. Our goal is to create the best looking pilot we can manage on a zero budget, and then through showing it to the right people, obtain financial backing to create our first season. Thus this is currently a passion project - but don't worry, from the reactions of those in the animation industry we've shown it to thus far, we have extreme confidence in the future of True Tail! We look forward to working with you!
Question: How successful has the film been? Answer: When I answered this question in the video, I only had about three days since the release to go off of. Now that it's been nearly nine months since Double Rainboom's release, I can better answer this question. I'd say the film has been extremely successful with regards to its original purpose - that purpose being an educational experience. The whole point of creating it was to learn more about the process required to create an animated production from scratch, and learn what I'm good at and what I'm not good at so that I can address the areas I'm not strong in and make my next film stronger as a result. So what did I do wrong? • I've learned that I need to market my productions better and be more aware of how potential plot twists can alienate viewers who were expecting something completely different. As a result I've taken a step back from marketing and have hired someone else to take over that for me. • I've learned that I'm not the greatest writer, but I'm really good at coming up with cool ideas. As a result I've taken several steps back from engaging in any form of writing and have hired a team of writers to take care of creating screenplays, handling dialogue, and writing announcements and other promotional material for me. • I've learned how important editing is to the process of creating a film, and how I pretty much skipped that part for Double Rainboom. The pacing could have been improved tremendously and a good eight-to-ten minutes should have been trimmed off to improve the experience. I've since hired a few people to help with editing when the time comes for True Tail. • I've learned that I'm decent with voice direction, but not the best. As a result I've hired someone else to handle recording dialogue and hiring/working with voice actors. So what did I do right? • On a positive note, I've learned that I'm very good at Art Direction. Despite its flaws, Double Rainboom looks good! It's very well-animated and has a highly engaging and detailed world that feels like one solid place - which is an important result seeing as how dozens and dozens of different artists all worked on it. • I've also learned that I'm very good a Crew Management and keeping people motivated. We had 105 people work on Double Rainboom throughout the year it took to make it and I had to be extremely charismatic and highly organized in order to keep everything together and production flowing. • I've also learned that I'm fairly good at directing sound design and orchestral composing. While not the best at creating it, I can certainly critique and "speak the language of sound" to my composers and sound designers in order to create emotional undertones and an atmosphere that is integrated seamlessly with the visuals. 60% of any visual production is sound, and I believe Double Rainboom succeeded at that. In Conclusion? So my answer to the original question is this: Double Rainboom, despite having several flaws that turned off a lot of viewers, is still extremely successful. It taught me and my crew a tremendous amount about how to create an animated production, it is an incredible achievement and success story for what a fandom is capable of creating when they are organized and dedicated, it has served as an excellent foundation from which to launch Skynamic Studios and begin my next project, it caused several of its crewmembers to get hired in the animation industry (including myself), it has nearly 7 million views on YouTube, and most importantly: it's just a heck of a lot of fun to watch!

Question: When did you come up with the idea to make a fanmade episode? Answer: After making The Ballad of Mecha Pinkie Pie (or at least the first eighth of it) and Present Prank, I realized that I had the potential, knowledge, and resources to create a full-fledged episode. There was no way I was going to pass that up.
Question: Why doesn't this count as your Senior Film?
Answer: Because I was a Junior when I started it and I wasn't taking my senior project classes. The whole idea behind Double Rainboom was to learn more about animation and what TO DO and what NOT TO DO with regards to making an animated production. And boy did I sure learn a lot! That way I'd be better prepared for my actual senior film (which I'm working on now).
Howdy Everypony! Check out Double Rainboom's new thumbnail for Youtube! We wanted to thank you all again for all of the love and support! We're still stunned that we passed the six million view mark! ^^
I officially turned in my one week's notice at Floyd County Productions today. The animation studio I run on the side, Skynamic Studios, has grown so large (over 65 crewmembers) that running it has become a full-time job. And despite how good my time management skills are, I've discovered that it's just not possible to run a studio this large AND work 40+ hours at Floyd. So I had to make a choice and choose one or the other. Thus I've decided to quit Floyd and return to Savannah to run my studio full-time and finish up my BFA at SCAD. I should be moving into an apartment down there on November 1st. ^^ I've truly had a blast these past four months working here in Atlanta! I wish Floyd County all the best!
Someone decided to edit the fan animation Double Rainboom to have a much tighter pacing, with sections sped up or shortened to have the length of an actual episode, and honestly? I think it flows much better, and something I could easily rewatch. Some of the shots with 'easter eggs' were also edited out so it doesn't feel like it's smothering you with references, as well as some really out of character moments are gone too. I definitely think people should give this edit a watch and reevaluate whether this animation really deserves the backlash it's gained.
