Speechless [Frisssaaa, All Day Errrdayyy]

I spent the last couple of days trying to think of a title for this blog. So many came to mind but none of them really encompassed how I felt, hence why I went with speechless.  I really am speechless, haha, which is saying something because I'm never speechless. I don't even know how to describe the last week.  It's been one hell of a week I would say.

[Insert: I had to change the title at the end because I realized the post would be too long so I am separating the blog post for the last week into a couple sections :)]  

For those of you who didn't know, my Uni was on Mid Semester Break these past two weeks and I had the privilege of going to the Gold Coast for Uni games. How that happened within my first month of being here ... well I don't know?  I just kinda signed up for frisbee and they needed girls to go with the team.  I had nothing holding me back so I agreed to go. However, most of you know I can't throw a frisbee for shhhhhh.. let alone catch.  But you'll be happy to hear that I wasn't actually that bad and played fairly well (my teammates might beg to differ. awk. but you'd have to ask them!).  

Side Note To Greg: This week of frisbee made me fall in love with it. I'm not the best frisbee player but let's just say it's so much fun to play and watch! I'm going to keep it up .. well after my ankle isn't sprained anymore. So when I get back to the States ... WE HAVE TO PLAY TOGETHER! 

The trip started off with a road trip cross country to the Gold Coast (GC) from Adelaide ... Guess how many hours it takes to get to the GC? 

..... if you guessed 24 hours ... YOU'RE RIGHT.  Yup the road trip was a two day thing with 12 hours of driving a day.  We only had two drivers because you had to be over 25 to drive. So a huge thank you to Slee and Heardyy! You two are awesome! When we arrived to GC, all of the Flinders' teams were staying in one accommodation, which was pretty sick because I got to meet other people from Flinders as well.  

Every day we either had 1, 2 or 3 games.  Unfortunately, we had three games on the first day and we lost the first one :( ... if we had won we probably would of been in a really good spot to finish 3rd or 4th in Div. 2. But we can't complain because we just had traveled 48 hours to GC, we were all pretty tired, and we really hadn't played together as a team much either. The rest of the day went well. Game 2 was party team, UWS. They basically learned how to play frisbee that morning .... it was quite embarrassing for them but still a fun game! Game 3: Griffths Uni! I can't remember much from that game but I am pretty sure we easily won but it was a tough game because we were all tired.  Game 4: Early morning on tuesday against CSU ... it ended in a golden point victory. 

Game 5: Afternoon game Tuesday against UTS. ... for some reason people don't like UTS at the Uni games (I don't know why).  There is a cheer: F*** off UTS. Anywho, we won again in golden point.  Golden point games are very mentally and physically challenging! Winning this game put us 2nd in our pool. Game 6: Willagong (I am spelling that completely wrong and saying it wrong. I apologize) .. If we won this game we would go into the top 8 ... well guess what? we lost it in Golden Point ... it was our third golden point of the tournament.  It was a tough loss because we knew we could of won but overall it was a great game and we would of wanted to lose it in a tough fought game than a shut out.  If we had won our first game of the tournament ... we would of played Adelaide Uni (Our arch nemesis) and we would of totally won and been in the top 8.  However that wasn't the case.  

Thursday: We played two games: Game 7: RMIT ... we won this one in Golden Point too.  Game 8: Curt ... we lost this one so we went on to play for 11th or 12th against CSU  (the team we beat in golden point during our pool matches).  CSU is a great team and we had a lot of fun playing against them on Friday.  Game 9: CSU. We won, which meant we placed 11th overall in Division 2.  Not what we hoped for but a great finish and an awesome tournament.  

In frisbee, teams play spirit games after the huddle.  The huddle is when both teams come together in a huddle and say what each team did well and cheer for each other. It's a very fun aspect of frisbee and brings teams together fo' shoo!  Then the two teams can play spirit games ... this games are basically like the ice breakers from UDaB.  WE PLAYED WAHHH! But there is a new one I learned and it's called streetfighter ... it's like pterodactyl but not (or like Zip Zap Zoom).  UDaB-ers: I'll post it on the page ... it's such a fun game! 

I think for me the best part was being able to help the team on defense ... everyone says girls win games.  It's quite true.  We had a three girl cup which is almost a barrier against the handler to stop the disc from progressing and our cup was able to do that.  Being able to help the team out that much made me feel useful hahah.  But no, I was really proud of the cup. Tash led it usually (umbilical), with Lauren, Laura, Melissa, and myself as points.  All of the girls played well even though most of us started playing three weeks ago.  For the boys, y'all are beasts! Doug, Aaron, and Slee ... freaking oath (Australian for freaking ehh) you guys can catch a frisbee down field.  Out of no where, they're always there to get it.  Scary, Rex, and Jordan ... best handlers evvaaaaa, their throws are spot on.  Tee and Heardy, you guys coached us well! Thanks dudes.  Renee and James: great team managers, dudet and dude.  

I think I knew I wanted to keep playing frisbee when I wanted to be on the field no matter what. There were times when I needed to take a point off and but most of the times I just always wanted to be on the field ... and that's when I knew that I'll probably stick with it.  I did sprain my ankle and that's because when I rolled it, I just kept playing on it and so now it's worse :( but ohh well.  It was well worth it.  There is so much more I can say about the frissaaa at Uni Games but I don't want to make this post that much longer.
