I love early Blue so much

Blue hid in the spot Haru had shown him, inside the closet, rocking back and forth, trying to shake the lies away. This Master wasn’t safe. This Master didn’t love it. No one did, no one could. He was just messing with Blue - waiting for the moment to beat the fuck out of it, to punish it for all the wrongdoings. It was just so it would hurt more, when Blue was humiliated and shoved back on its place.

Blue would be hurt. Blue deserved to be hurt. No one loved Blue. Blue had been bad. It and Bonnie had made a mess, a big mess, a huge mess-

...Soft knock on the door. It yelped, as it was opened, Master sitting crossed-legged outside the closet.

Blue could see it from here, the clothes he had ruined, pieces of fabric across the room.

“...look at me” Master instructed. He expected to see and hear fury, but there was only calm, and more than that… concern.

“S-s-s-s-sorr...s-s-sorry, B-b-blue, B-b-blue s-s-shouldn’t… s-s-shouldn’t… P-pplease punish Blue. It is s-sorry, it deserves punishment. It is your d-dumb pet… a-a-nd-”

...Master offered his hand. Blue took a moment to understand what it meant… But slowly, he moved closer to it, and caught his hand between his teeth, barely a bite this time, jaw trembling.

Master let it. He didn’t hurt it.

“...N-n-not… Mad…?”

Master shook his head.

“Not mad. Just help me clean this mess?” He offered a soft smile, as Blue crawled out of the closet.

Practiced and causal, JJ secured their tie and grabbed another bite of toast, plate teetering on the edge of the counter. Someone on the couch behind him groaned awake, and they smirked. “Ah, he lives.”

Angelo grumbled something and rubbed his eyes roughly, already feeling sick. He felt like death. And like he was going to be in the bathroom for the rest of the day.

JJ put their plate in the sink and skirted around the mountain of trash from the party last night. He would take it out later - or Charlotte would. Grabbing a water bottle, he leaned back over to the mirror to check his hair.

“How… how are you not dying this morning?” Angelo asked, voice rough and tired from what could graciously be called singing last night.

“I’ve got shit to do today,” they smirked, leaning against the fridge. “I’ve got SGA where the robotics club has been up my ass for funding so that’ll be great. Then I’ve got class and research and I’m meeting up with Phi Theta for a study group.

“How many shots did you have?”

“Like three.”

“Then, they switched to this,” came Charlotte from the hall, holding up a bottle of premium vodka in an elegant bottle. Angelo’s eyes went wide at the gold designs.

JJ laughed and took the bottle from her, taking a drink. From the couch Angelo balked.

“Are you still drunk?”

Charlotte rolled her eyes. “He bought the bottle empty online and fills it with water.”

“And no one but me gets to touch it cause it looks like it cost about $200,” JJ gloated, guesting with the bottle causally. By then Angelo’s head was hurting so he laid back down.

“You’re nuts dude. Absolutely nuts.”

Tool held the bottle for a moment longer than necessary, clearly lost in thought. The Mechanic smirked from his chair next to the fire, watching them intently in the firelight.

“Now don’t tell me you’ve had it before?”

Tool startled, quickly coming back to themself and bringing the man his drink. They shook their head. “No, no sir I’ve never had it. Just thinking.”

The Mechanic let it go, which Tool was grateful for, and went back to gazing into the fire.

Tool couldn’t seem to get the lump out of their throat.

Flashback for Sweet Pea?

Step, step, turn, open arms, spin. He lets his body fall back, and 359-A holds him. In that position, they have their backs to the teacher, who is examining their every move. Just for a second, onto that grip… 359-A smiles. And he can’t help but smile back, gazing into deep, loving eyes.

He isn’t sure if it’s real or not. He only knows that sometimes, he catches 359-A glancing at him from the corner of their eyes. That in the line for food, he will, very slightly, brush against his arm.

And 355-A has to hold himself from blushing… Because if they ever notice, they’ll never, ever, have a moment like this again. They’ll schedule them to complete different hours and make sure they don’t even know about each other. That, of course, after a generous correction of their behavior.

They are to love the Master. Only Master. And 355-A wants to be good. He wants to do his best.

Yet he keeps this little perversion close to his heart. What is so bad about enjoying the company of his dance partner, after all? It means he is more coordinated with him than with any other of the trainees. It means his heart beats faster, as he has to prevent himself from smiling

He spins again, and then stops, his face a perfect wax statue. So is 359-A. He has to wonder if 359-A ever had another name. Something more sweet, gentler than this number, that was a mere designation of their intake number and their sector.

Something human.

He takes a deep breath and pays attention to what the instructor is saying instead, because as much as he loves his little fantasy… He knows he will never find out.

“...You need to stop skipping school, Enoch” The man sighs “You know that already”

“I didn’t” He mumbles back, not looking up.

“...They saw you jumping the fence and smoking with some guys, Enoch” Dave sighs.

He still keeps his eyes down. He doesn’t want to look at Dave, let alone talk. He just wants to be alone.

“They don’t want me there anyway” He crosses his arms, turning around into the plaid room. It 's small. Barely fits a dresser and the bed. There is a small window with bars. It would look like a prison, if not for the posters hanging all over the wall, a bible opened in the corner. He scratches his arms, the fresh cuts hidden under the sleeves. He needs to do more. He needs to atone.

“That’s not true, Enoch”

“...They hate me. They think I’m weird” He hugs his legs. Kids could be fucking cruel, when they wanted to “And the teachers think I’m stupid. I can’t follow the lessons. They look at me like… like they just know I’m good for nothing”

...He would sleep away most of the glasses, as nightmares kept him awake at night. If not that, then, he prayed all night long. He knew he was doomed to hell - he was shunned, and with that, his chance to go to heaven… But he thought that maybe, just maybe, if he prayed hard enough, showed that he was still devoted, god would forgive him.

“...They know you are there to learn. They want to help you. I’m here for that too, if you have problem with homework and such” Dave tries, taking ahold of his school notebooks “...You are barely making notes…” “I can’t follow it”

“I know it’s complicated. It can be a lot even for teens who have studied their whole lives, and you just started…” Dave frowned, worried “I could maybe find you extra classes, or a private tutor-”

“More of this shit is the last thing that I need” He whimpers back “...Leave me alone. I need to pray”

Dave sighs and gets up.

“We’ll talk more over dinner”

He shrugs. Guess he is skipping dinner tonight.

Flashback for Sweet Pea, please?

He can’t fucking breathe. 355-A sits perfectly still on his knees, as he waits for his turn on the floor.

Today is test day. And he has to be perfect. He has got plenty of classes and rehearsal time - dancing and spinning and jumping till his feet were sore and bruised - but the nervousness could ruin everything. He’d be berated for failing, and lose many of the privileges he had conquered. He couldn’t afford to fail. He had to be perfect.

“355-A” The teacher called, the other pet slipping back on his knees just where 355-A had been sitting. He walked to the center of the room, taking as much air in as he could “...You may begin”

They turned on the music, and the pet started their steps, perfectly rehearsed, perfectly executed, even if he felt so far away from his body he barely had any control over it. Everything felt wonky, and sore and broken.

Flashback for BB as bait?

“It’s okay… Nng… Not your fault” Bullet drifted off to sleep. But it was their fault.

“B-b-bullet!!” They screamed as the door opened, Master’s workers throwing Bullet harshly on the mattress. Their friend was bruised, and bleeding, nose and face swollen, and the harsh whip lines on their back told Bait that they had lost the fight “Oh no, oh no, f-f-riend!” 

Bait squeaked, running to their small bathroom and getting whatever they could find to help. Mostly, that meant water on the small cup they had for drinking, and toilet paper. 

My fault. My fault. Bait repeated on their head, over and over, as they did the best to clean and tend to Bullet with the makeshift supplies. My fault. If Bullet beat me, if I was good, if they’d just train on me… I’m making them week.

Bait cried, tears falling over the wounds.

“Hey… it’s okay” Bullet whispered, a pained moan escaping with the words.

“Sorry” Bait whispered, seeing Bullet wince when they cleaned the wounds.

"Do it" Bait whispered, standing in the training room "Do it. Master will hurt us both if we don't"

"Bait I don't... i don't want to hurt you"

"It's fine" they insisted to the concerned face of Bullet.

"But it's... It's not fine, I..." Bait touches their arms, just trying to encourage them. Bullet takes a deep breath and closes their hand on a fist, hitting Baits face. They fall back from the impact, and spit blood, but smile.

Mater opens the door... And sets the whip aside.

"I see you did the right choice" master praises Bullet, but their eyes... bullet is horrified.

...BB shifts on the bed, sitting up, softly pushing Pastel aside. They smile at the sleeping form, and softly pet his head.

This dream, part memory... Brought a weird feeling, a longing, aching to their chest. They wonder if Bullet is okay. Then they push the thoughts aside.

Thinking about the past is always painful, they left too much behind.
