Word Up - a great way to practise some German
About two months ago I told you about the new app from FlashSticks and only a short while later they’ve come up with something else – a free smartphone app (Android and iPhone) called Word Up When they told me about it they warned me “Word Up challenges your brain to recall and spell thousands of new words. It’s highly addictive too!” As you know I love trying out free things, so I downloaded the…

Learn German with FlashAcademy – a review
When I went to the Language Show three years ago I came across this new company FlashSticks. I was so impressed with their product that I wrote a blog post about it. At the same time I did wonder what else they would be able to sell. I mean, there is only so much you can write on a post-it note. So I’ve been following their success and when they announced a new app I have been nagging them to…

Flashsticks' Object Scanner
Hey all! So, if any of you remember, back in the day we announced that Flashsticks are making Icelandic Flashsticks! While this project is on hold, they have released a sick new app with a sick thing called an object scanner; you take a picture of an object, and Flashsticks' object scanner will translate for you. This is revolutionary; neither one of us had event seen--or heard--of this before, and it's an amazing idea! (Though, to be honest, the entire Flashsticks company idea is just genius.) But this is where we come in; the object scanner can be translated into Icelandic! Our review is below the line, and if you want to check out Flashsticks' app, click here (and here for android users) :). And it’s free!
FRÉTTIR: Flashsticks!
Recently, we have been in contact with the wonderful company called Flashsticks. But, what have we been saying? What are Flashsticks? And most importantly, what does this blog have to do with them?
Flashsticks are half post-it note, and half flashcard. They’re these cute little sticky notes that you can stick virtually anywhere (on your dog, on your door, on your wall, you name it!) that can help you learn vocabulary in your target language. The words are color-coded: pink for feminine nouns, blue for masculine nouns, yellow for neutral nouns, and green for other words, such as verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. But the next thing I’m about to say is even better…
They have an app, to also help you learn! Basically, you find your dog (with hundur on it, right?;) ) and you scan the Flashstick for “dog” on their app. Next thing you know, a tutor on your phone pops up and says the [Icelandic] word for dog twice, along with the English translation. You can scan as many words as you want, and the app is still free! Isn’t that great? But what does that have to do with Íslenska Fyrir Alla, or Icelandic in general? Well…
Flashsticks is releasing Icelandic FlashSticks! We are both so excited to have been working with the company, partially because they are so nice to work with, but also because, wow! Finally, more accurate Icelandic resources! We were thrilled to have them say that they would consider Icelandic, and now, well, it’s happening! :)
But, there will definitely be some time before they are released in Icelandic. We still have a little work to do, and of course, the Flashsticks still have to be published, right? So what a better time than now to purchase a pack of Flashsticks than now, for while you wait? Then, when you get your pack of Icelandic Flashsticks, you’ll have a collection started!
Their website is here, where you can buy affordable Flashsticks today! When you do, let us know :).

#FlashSticksFriday - Review - aka my first ever video woooooh #ItsNotThatExciting #LanguageLearning
My first ever review, yay!
So at the beginning of January, someone from the company FlashSticks contacted me and asked me what I knew about their product and said they’d seen my blog and would I be interested in writing a review for them? I said that I had briefly seen something about them on Pinterest and that yes I would – and here is that review for you now.
What I said I would do for them was…
